Definitely excited for the season however I'm having a hard time not looking forward to 18-19 because I think that team has a chance to be special (obviously I know things can and will change but that squad looks stacked).
Looks like Wojo needs to use a sunscreen with a higher SPF.
Jamal Cain has the potential to be a modern day Bernard King.
In style maybe. In results? Very doubtful.
TAMUI do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.
Happy 22K!
Bernard King was a player who's skill wouldn't translate today. He, Adrian Dantley, and Mark Agguire are great scorers from that era who would struggle in today's NBA. Simply not tall enough, not quick enough, and didn't play defense. I watch the videos of Cain and think Sean Elliot with more range.
I remember Bernard. Scoring machine. One of the great showdowns in a playoff series that ultimately nothing was him versus Isaiah Thomas. Nothing but respect. I am simply saying that 6'7, 205 lbs, gimpy knees trying to score from the baseline and mid post would not work in today's NBA. Just like Adrian Dantley trying to work the low and mid post at 6'4 would not work today.
Completely disagree on King. He would be a 25 peg scorer in any era. Had the quickest release of any shooter I have ever seen.
Bernard King IS one of the great scorers of all time. At 6'7, 205. He did the majority of his work inside 18 feet. Deadly from the baseline, deadly from the mid post. I have nothing but respect for him. What position would he play TODAY? Who would be guarding him TODAY? How would his skill set translate in TODAY's game? He couldn't play SG and he is small for a modern SF. He rarely shot the 3. Same thing with Dantley. He was PG sized by modern standards and he did all of his work 17 feet and in. Would he be able to score against Green? Who would he guard?I admired these guys. I rooted for them, against them, appreciated everything about their games in the 80's.
King would be great today. Saw him in person. Suspect his game pre-injury would have adapted quite well to the 3 point mania of today. Dantley and Aguirre were ptoducts of their time. Don't think they would have translated well to today's NBA game. Still would have been very good collegiate players.
