King Kong Reference
« on: November 19, 2021, 09:47:24 AM »
A few years back, Gary Dolphin from University of Iowa got suspended for comparing a player to King Kong swatting away airplanes or something like that.  We had a thread about it, the link to which is attached.

https://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=58011.msg1099636#msg1099636

Last night during our game, the announcer, when mentioning Kuath and Brooks in the middle, described them as going at each other like King Kong vs. Godzilla.  I obviously don't think he meant anything offensive by it, but I sometimes wonder how these things work.  I suspect nothing will be made of last night's comment, and rightly so.  But why does one guy get suspended and another guy not?
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Because if someone is merely offended by something now it will be in issue.

Doubt anything will happen. There's a difference between saying a confrontation at the rim was like King Kong vs Godzilla than, say, suggesting a player looks like King Kong fighting Godzilla.

I am okay with cancelling that announcer, but because he sucked, not because of the King Kong comment.
Have some patience, FFS.

Yes the name constant murdering was hard to listen to.  Is it the same two again tonight?  I really hope they have learned their names for this one.

I just really think the teams need to run their offense from the inside - out.
