The Marquette Golf team has taken many, many major strides over past 30 years. I played one tournament for MU golf in 1981 and it was like high school, to some degree. The program has developed into a true program and love to see it. The quality of the player has taken even bigger strides. The one tournament I played, I was third out of five guys for MU and I think I shoot two rounds in upper 70's on a mid level course. The weather sucked, cold and windy October weekend, but hardly impressive.
The legacy of Stricker brings in the top recruits like MJ at UNC.
I'm just saying that I find it super surprising that anyone would choose a northern school for a D1 golf program. Plus the fact I was unaware of an actual golf team that was in anyway competitive
Golf team Big East runners-up. MU golfer Hunter Eichhorn wins the tourney for the second year in a row.The b-ball players really need to step up.
Ummm....Luke Donald anyone? Gleacher Indoor Golf facility on their campus helped put NU on the Ncaa golf map, not to mention their dual "home" course rota of Skokie CC and Conway Farms C.C.Marquette having US Open host site Erin Hills as a "home" course is huge for recruiting. Also, in the past twenty years, PGA Tour guys like Steve Stricker and "Lumpy" have made it known how cool it is to go home to Wisconsin and Minnesota to work on their game in the off-season. As PTM alluded to, with indoor simulators and launch monitors, not to mention heated stalls and domes, it's not as big a deal to be in a cold weather state and still keep a college-level golf swing sharp.
Looks like Men’s team got screwed out of an NCAA Tourney appearance. Are sending two individuals.
Phenomenal what has been going on with MU athletics the last number of years. Men's and women's basketball back doing well. Lacrosse is terrific. Golf team nationally ranked. Women's volleyball first place Big East and NCAA participant year in and year out. Women's soccer remains strong. Marquette won the President's Award in the Big East last year. Tremendous.Men's soccer is the one where I've been disappointed. Had high hopes for the coach years ago when he was brought in, but they don't seem to be able to get over the hump.
Additionally, Mike Van Sickle was quite the stick when he was on campus. Marquette's program has taken a big step and the courses they get to play on are like getting to play in Rose Bowl Stadium.
If I remember correctly, he was the runner-up for Big East individual championship, beating future PGA champion Keegan Bradley in the process.
Looks like UW-Plateville took 4th at the collegiate championships... UW-Madison was second to last. Does Marquette have a club team?https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/33931
You missed Liberty.
I had Liberty on ignore. Magic Dawson couldn't hit the easy Anny.
Liberty as a university in its entirety should be ignored.
According to my handy Google research Liberty Law school ranked 190th out of 196 law schools in terms of graduates passing the bar exam. UW-Rodents and Marquette ranked #1 and #2? It's on the internet, must be true.https://www.ilrg.com/rankings/law/1/desc/Bar
UW and MU law grads don't take the bar exam if they practice in WI. Only state in the country with that arrangement."One call, that's all."
