I've always been partial to Balistreri's Bluemound Inn.

never been to libiamo, i've been to balistreri's, they have really good za. joey buona's has to be the best though, the food quality and quantity is unmatched. for about $20 you can get family style which is unlimited amount of 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 pastas, 2 salads, 2 desserts. Its silly that its unlimited though, because even with four people, the plates are so gargantuan that you will have leftovers for 2 or 3 days. and the food quality is amazing, highly recommended.
also, bartolotta's is pretty good. i've been to the one in wauwatosa, there used to be one on the east side too but that closed. there's also a french bartolotta's too but never been there.

Never eaten there but I've always heard Osteria Del Mondo is the best. Near County Clare and the Knick. Pretty sure they are in the old Sally's space.

Libiamo?  Really?  Huh, haven't had great luck there, but the owner of that is some how connected to Palermo Villa....that place is great.  I like more casual restaurants myself and their pizza is great.

Ristorante Bartolotta in the Tosa Village - best Italian in the city and an added bonus, Mondays and Tuesdays are half price bottles of wine.

Osteria Del Mondo is very good as well, but Ristorante is the spot that has some of the menu items that are featured at Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare at the Wynn in Vegas.

Pasta Tree is great if you don't mind close quarters.

Couldn't disagree more.  Ristorante Bartolata in Tosa had some of the worst service I have ever experienced in the one time I was there, and I live within walking distance of the place.  I also thought the food was average.

Mimma's on Brady street is the best Italian I can think of in Milwaukee.  Check it out seriously, can't be touched in my opinion.  Especially for the variety of the menu.

I'll second Mimma's.  Excellent atmosphere and mid-range prices.

I'm not an east sider, but Zaffiro's on Farwell has the best pizza.  Kind of a cruddy old pizza joint, though.

Mimma's is very good. And, not to change the subject (or ethnicity), but Cempazuchi (Mexican), also on Brady, is quite good as well.

Pasta Tree was excellent. Balisteri's has some of the best pizza, haven't needed to try anything else. Albanese's was decent.

Gonna have to try Mimma's soon, it's walking distance from my apartment.

It's a chain though and this thread is about non-chain places. It is ok in my mind.

I do like Mima's and Bartallota's. I used to love Beccofino but granted I worked there while at MU and it paid for a lot of school supplies such as copious amounts of Miller Lite.
But I like to throw handfuls...

So I guess Libiamo's is just so-so.  Fair enough

Pasta tree was pretty good.

Campezuchi's is awesome, I agree.

Psh, just go to Zebb's on 27th. It has the best Chicken Alfredo in Milwaukee. Their sign says so.

I've been to Mimma's once in my life and it was fantastic.  If I was up in Milwaukee more often for things other than Marquette games, I'd definitely go there.

This was my favorite place to go when my parents came to town, and unless it moved...  I am pretty sure it went out of business a few years ago.
