America to Me Documentary
« on: September 25, 2018, 01:52:48 PM »
Curious if anyone else has followed this documentary on STARZ. It's done by Steve James, the guy who made Hoop Dreams. Anyways just watched episode 6 and I think it's worth watching for anyone who is curious about achievement gaps and prejudice in this country. This episode was unbelievably powerful.

A woman who works for me (who is white) has two daughters at that school.  I have been meaning to check it out.
Have some patience, FFS.

Gets a bit slow with not much insight during a few of the earlier episodes. But episode 6 really hit home for me. Let me know if you get around to watching it!

One episode in, watching it with my 12 and 14 year old sons. Having a discussion after each episode.

When you get further in I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

It's all the talk in the OP, BPB.  I have only seen the first episode, and I've read the commentary in the local paper.  Our kids didn't go there, but lots of their friends and grade school classmates did.

I'll track you down when I get deeper in.

Good, but not great.

Though the same till episode 6, that's the only one I would say would be impactful without having an attachment to the area.
