I wrote it’s too woke.  Native Americans didn’t have it that bad.  People forget we brought them Christianity.  I don’t want to see a movie that doesn’t celebrate American history.

Also, 95 % on Rotten Tomatoes, 8.8/10 on IMBD and 9/10 on IGN, so sure, mixed reviews

I loved the book. I’m not sure if I’m willing to invest 3.5 hours into the movie.

In a separate chapter of the deplorable treatment of Native Americans, did anyone catch the first half of Ken Burns's The American Buffalo on PBS last night? It was brutally great.

Beyond sad what the 🦬 population has endured.  One of the worst genocides in history.  It doesn't bother me in the slightest when they get mad and charge douchebags that want selfles.

? The book (and I assume the movie) are very anti genocide. The woke in the US (at least on campuses and in Congress) are just the opposite.

Hang this in The Louvre

Saw a few poor reviews and started a thread saying it’s getting mixed reviews.

Then say I guess most were favorable when it has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 91% on Metacritic with 32 positive reviews, 3 mixed and 0 negative.  Yes, I guess most were favorable.

Fantastic

The Irishman was 95% on RT.  But other reviewers weren't so kind.  Besides Pesci the flick had some probs.

What does that have to do with this movie or your original post being wrong?

Also, The Irishman is the perfect ending to his Italian mob trilogy.  Perfectly showed the sad lives of mobsters, their families and associates.

I read the review in the SF Chronicle and it wasn’t favorable.  But I guess shouldn't have wrote mixed reviews.

Redemption for muggsy!

Down to 92% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, only 86% by viewers.  Definitely a movie with mixed reviews.

Couple that with Scorsese’s anti-white assessment of the treatment of Native Americans and I’ll pass.  Also, I’m boycotting Deniro anyway for being mean to President Trump

I'm not talking about the review of the movie its self thats all subjective

But ripping the casting of two the the best actors of all time is one of the dumbest things ive ever heard. Deniro is fantastic and as most are saying this is one of Leos best performances ever.

I still think a role like Wolf was more challenging and better. But Leo is really fu cking good in this.

State leaders don’t want whitey to feel “guilty.”

I rewatched Taxi Driver a couple months ago and while it obviously showed its age, I still found it riveting. Good choice, Lenny.

Raging Bull is a top-10, maybe even top-5 movie all-time for me. Scorsese and DeNiro both at their peak.

So are Christopher Walken, John Cazale, Meryl Streep, etc. but We’re talking Scorsese and he didn’t do Deer Hunter.

Tangentially related to "Goodfellas" (or Goodfellows) ...

A notorious Bonanno crime family capo once linked to the infamous Lufthansa heist at JFK airport depicted in the movie “Goodfellas,” has died three years after he was released from prison for health reasons.
Vincent Asaro, 86, was part of a cadre of mobsters charged with making off with nearly $6 million in the 1978 airport robbery. He beat the rap in 2015 — only to get jailed on an unrelated road rage arson conviction.
