Lewis has the 9th longest wingspan. All 8 players above him are at least an inch taller than him, 7/8 are at least 2.5 inches taller than him. This is why he's projected to be drafted. Can't teach that length.
Also, the player who only has an inch on him is Trevion Williams. Purdue listed him as 6'10", lol.

Things like this make me sometimes believe some of the numbers are fake. It is way too low.
Similarly, there is no way Drew Timme has only 15.7% body fat. He doesn't exactly look in shape.
Professional bodybuilders don't really go below 3% even for shows/performances, because they'd be near death. At 3-5% you can see every vein on their body. 10-12% body fat will give you a solid 6-pack.
Wonder how they are calculating this. My guess is it isn't with a dexascan, and the numbers are complete BS to make it seem like they are elite athletes (also serves zero purpose).

lol probably calipers on the back of the arm, leg, and across the abdomen like we had to do in high school for wrestling.

If you had to bring it up every job application you submitted, you might get a little more specific.

Justin has a great frame, but his athletic scores weren't great. I can see it going either way at this point.

I don’t see how it is possible to be more specific than giving your actual height when you are asked how tall you are.

Mark Williams, Gabriele Procida, and JD Davison listed 2" taller with shoes than without. Maybe not stilettos, but looks like those three will be playing in heels...
Or the folks running the combine don't know how to measure.

A draft guarantee would be an outstanding outcome.
-
He gowne, hey?
My thinking was at least 50% that he would return. If Lewis made the decision (with no injury) not to play, I'm gonna go to <5% chance he returns.
Usually guys who pull out like that have received some kind of guarantee from a team whether it is 1st or 2nd round.
Sorry - I didn't see Brew's post.

Per Ben Steele, Justin will be talking to the media Friday. Guessing that will be the announcement as to his future.

Is there an advantage to him announcing now versus closer to the deadline? Unless he got a guarantee and is going to announce now rather than delaying the inevitable.

Lewis sitting out is as clear an indication as there could be that he’s not coming back to MU.

100% agree. The only reason he pulls out of the combine games is if he has decided for sure he is not returning and has some sort of draft guarantee.
Shaka should be trying to find an elite transfer.

Yeah, Lewis and his advisers are stoopid.
Plus, he's a Wojo guy, so good riddance. He should take Kam, Stevie and Oso with him - Wojo losers.
Besides, Shaka doesn't even want 2nd-round-caliber players. All he's done since getting the Marquette job is bring in draft-lottery-caliber guys.

Cancel that trip to the Canadian Rockies and write a check instead. I’m sure your girlfriend will understand. Priorities, no?

#27 overall with the Miami Heat sounds about right.

Would Justin drop out of the highest caliber showcase, with his NBA counterparts, for a 2nd round guarantee? I would think if some team said we are taking you at #50…….Justin would say cool…….im gonna play and show every other team that they’ll want me before that.
I admittedly no nothing of “draft guarantees” but it must be real good news for JLew not to play.
BTW, are there rumors of others who DNP who may get a draft guarantee?

This is a common practice. Generally, it is not announced publicly.
-
Sucks for us but great for Justin.
Hope its a really good opportunity whoever gave him the guarantee(or whever he ends up if he goes before that team picks).
-
Top picks in the 2nd round are usually given guaranteed deals for some term. For exampe last year's #2 2nd round pick.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl signed a 4 year / $7,888,598 contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, including $4,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $1,972,150.

Shaka told Justin he's too good to stay at MU. Shaka only wants untalented players that fit the culture.

While agree that's the most likely reason, there could be other reasons. Like an injury or a health issue that's keeping him off the court. Or that he got an awesome NIL offer and really wants to stay in school another year...

No he wasn't. I would go so far as to say he was the worst shooter on the team - including walk-ons. Being able to dunk when you are 6'10" does not make you a good shooter.
Jackson-Davis scored mostly on contested post-ups. BTW, he also rebounded - something else Kur couldn't do.

This clearly means that Justin has decided to play pro football.

I am glad that Justin did not participate in the Combine games. There is only downside, if Justin is already held in good regard by the NBA teams with interest.
For example, Colin Gillespie went 3-19 shooting over the course of his two games. That did not help his cause.

The Athletic had some Combine observations that included mentions of Lewis, as well as a few other tidbits ...
A maddening issue has been players’ unwillingness to participate in the five-on-five portion of the combine, even if they probably should to improve their draft stock. In a way, this mechanism could end up being self-correcting. Several players moved up teams’ boards in 2021 partly as a result of playing in Chicago, including a few who vaulted into the first round (notably 12th pick Joshua Primo, 24th pick Josh Christopher and 25th pick Quentin Grimes).
With this year’s solid play of Santa Clara’s Jalen Williams and some others foreboding the same, one wonders if agents will stop overplaying their hands. Several players who either stood pretty firmly in second-round territory (Marquette’s Justin Lewis, Duke’s Wendell Moore) or had little to lose by playing five-on-five (G League Ignite’s Jaden Hardy, Milwaukee’s Patrick Baldwin, Michigan State’s Max Christie) nonetheless sat out that portion
In a section of the article subtitled "Measurement Guys" ...
A couple of other perimeter players with great length/enormous hand combinations: Justin Lewis at Marquette was 6-foot-7 1/2 with a 7-foot-2 1/2 wingspan, along with 10 1/2-inch hands. NBA teams already had Leonard Miller’s measurements from Nike Hoop Summit, but he also came in again at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan and 10 1/2-inch hands. Guys with these kinds of frames and perimeter-style games tend to figure it out at the NBA level at some point in their trajectory. Think O.G. Anunoby, Jerami Grant, Christian Wood, Pascal Siakam and others. These guys all went outside of the top 20, but made it work at the next level. Don’t be surprised if the Barlows, Lewises and Millers of the world end up being the next ones to do so.
Also in that section:
Wisconsin guard Johnny Davis did himself some good by coming in at more than 6-foot-4 without shoes, when some teams had some very real concerns that he’d be about that height with shoes. At 6-foot-5 3/4 in shoes with an 8-foot-7 1/2 standing reach, Davis looks well-suited to playing either wing position now as opposed to coming in with measurements that would leave him position-locked as a two.
A few other odds 'n ends some Scoopers might be interested in ...
+ A feeling emerged that Orlando will draft Chet Holmgren first overall.
+ A lot of trading is expected to take place on or shortly before draft night.
+ Santa Clara wing Jalen Williams was chosen as the "big winner" of the Combine. "At this point, we expect he ends up being picked near the top-20 on draft night."
+ Kofi Cockburn and Drew Timme were among those labeled "5-on-5 standouts" who helped their draft stock. Of Timme: "He opened some eyes by making four 3-pointers on the second day of scrimmages — he was 5-of-8 overall — and also had a legendary protest of a traveling call against him. Timme measured 6-9 in shoes and will need to play the four at the next level. He showed enough skill to potentially pull it off."
+ Meanwhile, at the G League Elite Camp, Jared Rhoden and Connecticut got solid reviews, with The Athletic saying: "A pair of tough, physical wings from the Big East who parlayed great outings at the Portsmouth Invitational into strong G League camps and combine invites. Both defended well and attacked the basket, using mature frames to overpower some of the younger guys at both events. Rhoden is slightly more interesting to a wider swath of NBA teams due to his elite length, but both should expect to end up as two-way contract players. Each of them has really helped themselves throughout the pre-draft process."

This is what stood out most to me, mainly because if Justin is seen as a second round pick (which is the current consensus) then a second round guarantee might not be worth much as the team currently guaranteeing they'd take him if he's there may not have the pick to take him when it comes up anyway.
-

True. But maybe he is hearing from several teams that they will take him if he's there at pick number whatever.
Or maybe not. I don't claim to know. Just going into what could help shape his decision.

I think Justin will do well in the interviews with the GM. He has handled himself well at MU.

Media is a big part of the whole experience.
I suspect Justin's camp is hearing from multiple teams that he'll go somewhere in the early second round, so he has nothing to gain from playing or speaking. Even the top guys avoid media availability.
His measurables (6'7.5" height, 7'2.5" wingspan, 10.5" hands) could be the biggest thing for him coming out of this combine. That length is such an outlier.
-

You're so right about the measurables. And having read The Athletic piece, he's not exactly an outlier in declining to play 5-on-5 games.
For some time now, I thought he was gonna leave ... and now I'd be pretty stunned if he returns to Marquette. Hard to blame him if he's getting the kind of feedback that seems most likely.

I fell asleep in the middle of a conversation with my boss way back when. He asked if I fell asleep which I denied of course but I sure as hell fell asleep. That told me I had to change jobs.
