Wishing the Hauser’s well
« on: April 15, 2019, 02:54:53 PM »
Haven’t seen this thread posted yet, so I wanted to take time to wish Sam, Joey, and family well.  I always thought Sam was the most important player on this team.  It will be a big loss, but I don’t blame them for leaving one bit

You guys have a fan for life with me.

Writing was on the wall, most didn’t want to see it.

Before giving people s**t who come forward with information, maybe take the blinders off and see Wojo and the program for what it is.

Right? Seemed pretty backhanded to me 😂

Honestly I really feel bad for Sam in this situation. Really screws up his growth and has to uproot everything after 3 seasons. Doesn’t matter whose to blame, that really sucks.

He’s a really good big brother, that’s where I’ll leave it at.

Wish them well! Ha!

They just quit on their team before the best preseason ranking in 40+ years in order to get more shots!

You can’t get any more selfish than that!

I wish them well, too.  I've really enjoyed watching both of them play, and was looking forward to next season.  I hope they find a situation that works well for them.

Sam was my personal favorite player since Davante, and I wish them well, as long as they don't end up at UW.

I think the year off may do them some good to concentrate on fully recovering from their injuries and get in top shape.

Hate to see them go.

Kids can be unhappy for a variety of reasons. They are kids. If they weren't happy then they made the right choice to leave. I won't "cheer for them" necessarily at their next stop but I sure as hell don't hold any ill will towards them.

I wish the Hausers all the best, respect their wishes and maybe even understand their reasons. It is a huge loss for Marquette and ends any hope for success next year.

On one hand, they are really abandoning MU.

However, can't blame a college kid for making a once in a lifetime move to try something new. They tried Marquette and didn't like it. They have a chance to go to a top team in the nation and are taking it. In some ways, I applaud them and wish I had the balls to try something like that my senior year.

The Hauser brothers don't owe anything to the fans. As much as it sucks they're leaving, it's their decision. And I'll leave it at that. Don't want to see them do poorly, but as a fan of the team, I can't say I want to see them win a trophy with Virginia or wherever they decide to go.

The problem is .. the Hausers leaving isn't just a common transfer type issue.

Their decision today is an inflection point for the Marquette program.

Are you sure?  I mean, seems (from reports) like one of the two is unhappy, and the other is following along.  Have you heard otherwise.  Seems like the reason most transfers happen, just so happens that we've got brothers that want to play together.

Their decision today is an inflection point for the Marquette program.

Again, is there more to the story you know?  Sure, MU hoops since Feb 26 has been crappy.  But a lot of story to tell on how it works out from here.

I throw plenty of shade at Keefe for his sausage fest antics, and he certainly did hint at Hauser friction, but he hardly "nailed' this - at least not publicly stating they boys were leaving.  He *hinted* the parents were unhappy...

I have no inside information, so actually I am not sure (although I know your question wasn't directed to me).  But, it does seem that this isn't just an ordinary, run of the mill transfer situation.  Yes, unhappy players transfer.  But I do think it's not common to see two presumed starters transfer from a program expected to have an outstanding season the following year.

Saddest thing is that the Hausers aren’t going to be Marquette guys any more...they won’t be fondly remembered with some of the greats of this program and our alma mater...we remember fondly & honor years later the memories of great players like all of Al’s incredible guys, Doc Rivers, Tony Smith, Jim Mac, Aaron Hutchins, Wade, Diener, Novak, the Triplets, Lazar, Crowder, Butler, etc.

Even guys that left like Jim Chones didnt leave to go play for another school.  Even Henry Ellenson will always be a Marquette guy.

Sam & Joey aren’t Marquette guys any longer...and that saddens me...

B-I-N-G-O!

They were solid additions to the program – especially Sam – but now that they have left the team on the verge of a potential top-five season and Final Four run, they are showing that there really were some “I”s in this team.

I agree with that.  But Joey came to Marquette because they wanted to play together.  Both have decided to transfer to continue playing together.  We may never know if that was primarily driven by one of them (ala - traditional transfer situation), or both of them being unhappy.  Reports seem to be that they made the decision together, but it was largely due to one of them selling the other.  Or parents? selling both.

Hah, I no nothing either :)

Not to mention multiple different people today stating this was not driven by the parents, but by the boys themselves.

Care to expand?

To note, I enjoy anyone's "rumors" and "inside" info. Of course, it can be hard to distinguish between actual info vs trolling vs speculation or hearsay. So I don't think skepticism when someone provides "inside" info is necessarily a negative.

Even if they go to UW as much as that would break my heart, i would still wish them personal success, not team success of course. Either way hope they make the league and think they will. Hope they go to UVA

I'm pretty good at separating good from bad inside information ("steam") at Belmont Park, but on MU Scoop- not so much. i still haven't figured out why Buzz left.

I thank the Hausers for everything they have done for Marquette the past three years.

I do not wish them well. I also don't wish them bad. Honestly, I don't care what they do from here on out.

This.  For the same reason I don’t hold it against players who decide to move on, makes sense for us to do the same.  I hope they don’t break the law, fall ill or become a burden to society, short of that I really don’t care about the rest of their story.

This is precisely where I am with them.

I have no ill will toward them, although I will hope they fail if we play against them.

But I don't care where they end up, don't care if they do well or poorly from here on out, just don't care.

Basically, I care as much about them as they do about Marquette. Hopefully, they don't wish bad things for the school, but they obviously no longer care about it.

I don't wish them any bad luck, but if they go to UW, it will be nice to be them like a drum for a few more years.

I throw plenty of shade at Keefe for his sausage fest antics, and he certainly did hint at Hauser friction, but he hardly "nailed' this - at least not publicly stating they boys were leaving.  He *hinted* the parents were unhappy...

I'm not going to wish them well but it's not like I'm going to hate them. Just two more guys that don't play for us.

Sam was a 15 point 7 rebound player who consistently got love from the fans and the media. Joey got every opportunity to prove himself. If they think they have a better opportunity going to Virginia, Wisconsin or West Virginia after sitting a year then so be it.

Are you sure?  I mean, seems (from reports) like one of the two is unhappy, and the other is following along.  Have you heard otherwise.  Seems like the reason most transfers happen, just so happens that we've got brothers that want to play together.

Again, is there more to the story you know?  Sure, MU hoops since Feb 26 has been crappy.  But a lot of story to tell on how it works out from here.

Was this supposed to be on the underboard!?!

I support Marquette University basketball, not Hauser University or Wojo College. Sorry to hear they decided to move on - especially for Sam - but as they walk away from MUBB, I am leaving them.

I wish the Hausers all the best, respect their wishes and maybe even understand their reasons. It is a huge loss for Marquette and ends any hope for success next year.
What are their reasons?  Does anybody besides them really know?

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I do not think that you can both wish them well and think Wojo should keep his job. Either they quit on him, or Wojo - maybe irreparably - failed his duties to this program.

Well, if you weren't such a mouth breather you would get an invite to the Meat Eating Underground where specifics were outlined and shared weeks ago.

The Hausers were out the door. And it is 100% on Wojo.

I saw you were in the field, any chance in China? I am landing in Shanghai in couple of hours. We could meet and review MSIII invite list and discuss the underground scoop.

Just got back to Seattle from AK so I missed the fireworks from MKE.

Was touring a site with Alaska Native leadership for the micro grid technology when my phone starting blowing up with tweets from Meat Eaters about the Hausers.

As a charter Meat Summiteer you of course had that intel weeks ago.

By the way, Chef Bombana opened up an 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo in Shanghai near the Bund. Definitely worth a go. In Hong Kong I still prefer Va Bene but Mezzo in Shanghai is stellar.

Wojo is proving in so many ways he is in over his head. Frankly, he is just not all that bright.

Agreed on being in over his head. I think his days are numbered. Thanks for Mezzo tip. I am having dinner on Wednesday with my nephew and we will try and make it happen.

Sam & Joey aren’t Marquette guys any longer...and that saddens me...

.

Yeah this is the really weird part for me. Sam was on his way to legend status.

Travis Diener said Sam was favorite Warrior of all time. He would have gone down as an alll time great in the post Al era. As a fan, I find their departure to be a sad day in program history.
People can say next man up, hope they fail or whatever they want, but it is a poor reflection on a once very proud program. Anyone thinking others step in and replace these two simply is misguided. Folks were hinting on Cain going to Detroit and now expecting him to replace Sam. Flat out, it is not going happen.
At this point, MU has to look very hard at the direction the head coach is taking this program.
