Title: REAL QUICK Q ON SCHOLARSHIPS
Post by: ErickJD08 on January 05, 2009, 10:24:39 PM
I thought there are 0 scholarships left.  Why are we still in the running for these other players?  Is someone leaving?  Someone clarify...

Well the telltale signs are that someone might be leaving or transferring.  It's been discussed a lot here but some ideas thrown out have been Cubillan transferring or Acker graduating early (because he is eligible to) since McNeal will be gone.  If we got a top recruit like Dashonte Riley we would make room for him.

Acker is not going anywhere.  Why would he he has even more playing time in order for next year and we will need him to back up and mentor a Freshman.  I also cannot see Cubi going anywhere, he will be a senior and is caught in a anumbers game right now.  He will have more opportunity to play next year and Buzz will want his senior leadership.  Cubi could leave but I cannot see Buzz not wanting him back.  The guy I can see not comming back is HAzel.  Now granted he has played very adequately for us, but even as Buzz states he is out there becuase of his hustle and quite honestly becuase before week ago he was our only option behind Burke.  Love his Hustle but he is not a BE talent.  Looking forward to next year he will be ebhind McMorrow and Otule at the 5 and possibly another big( Ie Riley or someoen else) and there will be no room at the inn at the 4 with maymon, lazar and Fulce.  Love the kid but with 2 years left it will be the time for him to ply his trades elsewhere.  he could transfer to aHofstra or a Fordham or any of the MAAc, NEAC type teams and be a 2 year starter.

I think you are right about Cubi.  He will be given every opportunity to get playing time at the 2.  My guess is that if he doesn't step up, he's behind Buckys and E. Williams though.

crrect on Ice Cubes...also as far as the 4-5 logjam i discussed for Hazel i forgot to mention Roseboro.  My thought would be to redshirt roseboro putting him in the class of 2010 and sign 2-3 guards for the 2010 class. or at least 2 guards and a PF

If Acker graduates, as in gets a diploma, he's still eligible to play basketball.  He'd just have to be taking grad degree classes.

Even if Roseboro redshirts in 2009-10, his scholarship is still taken. It would not be "available" to sign another 09-10 recruit. Just to clarify.
