Warrior Eagles by 11.
-
They put the wrong photo for Morsell lol. This all access crap is going to get old in another 20 seconds...
-
Lewis didn’t drag his foot.
-
Lewis didn’t drag his foot.
No, he did not.
-
I didn’t realize the DePaul coach was going to be so annoying in the all access
-
All Access during the game is so annoying.
-
This is excruciating. They should alternate between the two. Both of them screaming at the same time hurts my face.
-
Yeah, painful and useless.
-
its cool for awhile but not all game.
-
All Access during the game is so annoying.
Asinine. Totally agree .
Let's wake the H up now.
-
Rob Judson in the DePaul huddle
-
Absolutely. Listening to them both at the same time makes me want to go to mute.
-
This is excruciating. They should alternate between the two. Both of them screaming at the same time hurts my face.
Especially when the announcers chime in.
I’m enjoying it though.
Is this on a delay or are they great at not swearing?
-
The huddle is cool. The yelling during the game is horrible.
-
its cool for awhile but not all game.
They're doing this for the entire game?? Sweet Jesus.
-
Was that a “good s$%t” from Shaka?
-
Was that a “good s$%t” from Shaka?
Yep.
-
You are so right. Any way I can get a radio broadcast?
-
there was a bullcrap From shaka too cuz we left shooters open then he put Greg and Kam in. lol. i like it. it's different. it's overstimulation for sure, but it's only one game. I'll take it.
-
I went to mute. Whoever thought of this "idea" and those that agreed to it need to do some serious soul-searching. This is completely ridiculous and totally inexcusable.
-
I’m getting more out of Shaka’s facial expressions than what he’s saying
-
I've heard Greg is not a three point shooter
-
I went to mute. Whoever thought of this "idea" and those that agreed to it need to do some serious soul-searching. This is completely ridiculous and totally inexcusable.
It's certainly annoying at times but you might be overreacting a tad.
-
I like the lack of commercials too
-
I loved the all access a couple years ago when it wasn’t MU playing.
-
The all access during breaks is awesome.
In game with a 3/4 screen is brutal.
-
Not sure MU can hold the lead if they are not instructed to PLAY.HARDER in the cuddle
-
The all access during breaks is awesome.
In game with a 3/4 screen is brutal.
The 3/4 screen is driving me nuts.
-
OSO!!
-
How many dunks is that?
-
Rebound the damn ball and we roll.
That and Freeman Liberty bombs are their hope
-
REBOUND
THE
ROCK
NOW.
-
Did Shaka just prevent that from being called a foul?
-
2nd chance points killing us.
-
Rebound the damn ball and we roll.
That and Freeman Liberty bombs are their hope
EXACTLY. Driving me up the wall.
-
Seriously D rebound.
Offensive passing is amazing again.
Gregs been a huge spark.
-
REBOUND
THE
ROCK
NOW.
This is already a blowout if we could rebound.
-
Blue, blue….no, regular blue….
Who’s in charge of naming DePauls plays? They need more creativity
-
DePaul definitely has some Big East level players this year
We just got to keep the pressure up on both ends
-
Thankfully, DePaul passed into 3 defenders after Greg did the same thing
-
Drink when you hear the word "blue"
-
OMG. Get a rebound!!
-
Excellent walled up block by Kur but it ends up an and 1 because we don’t rebound.
3 on Omax
-
Drink when you hear the word "blue"
I don’t think I have enough alcohol in my house
-
Blue, blue….no, regular blue….
Who’s in charge of naming DePauls plays? They need more creativity
What if you have a blue sensitive color blindness
-
DePaul is killing us on the boards. How many offensive rebounds do they have???
-
How was Kur not getting grabbed on that O rebound attempt?
-
Wrapped his arm, should have been offensive
-
DePaul is killing us on the boards. How many offensive rebounds do they have???
All of them
-
I didn’t like anything after Greg’s 3
-
I don’t think I have enough alcohol in my house
I've banned this from my household since freshman year

Freeman Liberty is having Kams lunch
-
damn liberty finna make the leauge
-
DePaul is killing us on the boards. How many offensive rebounds do they have???
Poor boxing out and general tenacity. Absolutely KILLING us and ridiculous.
-
Wow, shaka letting Kam have it in the huddle
-
REBOUND
THE
ROCK
NOW.
MU is a poor defensive rebounding team
-
You are so right. Any way I can get a radio broadcast?
Try the radio
-
BAM. TK
-
Shaka was as excited as I was when Kolek hit the 3
-
Gotta D up.
-
I liked the crappy DePaul teams better
-
Would also be nice if these rando non shooters for DePaul stop cashing bombs
-
I haven't watched them at all this season. Is DePaul really this good at those deep threes?
-
I haven't watched them at all this season. Is DePaul really this good at those deep threes?
No, they shoot 32% as a team
-
I haven't watched them at all this season. Is DePaul really this good at those deep threes?
I would say no but they're getting rhythm threes.
-

-
Their hot shooting and hot offensive rebounding will cool down.
-
I guess #35 on DePaul wasn’t faking about getting poke in the eye earlier. He looks like he has pink eye now
-
Out of the time out we had a great play. Koleks pass was a little off to Greg tho and caused him to have to swing it.
Justin has got to get consistent on those wide open corner Js
-
If the foul was on Lewis it was after time expired
-
Should be up about 13. DePaul made a few shots, hopefully they don't in the 2nd half.
-
Meh
-
Got to play hard every possession
-
Need to hit the defensive board harder
-
Always a battle with DePaul…. Go. MU and win the second half big!
-
Why MU only up one:
Rebounds. Depaul 23, MU 11
Offensive: Depaul 12, MU 2
That’s really, really bad
Justin Lewis has zero rebounds and has reverted to taking threes again.
Omax went from super star to super dud.
-
I don't think "blue" is 3/4 court pressure as the announcers said. It seems to Stubblefield's version of Wojo's "COMPETE!" since he yells it no matter if DePaul is on offense or defense.
-
DePaul was the better team that half. Expect a stronger second half.
-
Piss poor performance in first half.
Cmon its DePaul
-
Lmao at the difference between the locker rooms.
-

The rebound margin is beyond frustrating. Gotta man up in the 2nd half.
-
Lewis seems somewhat off (which, according to form, means look for him to have a great 2nd half).
Do we need to drop more guys into the paint at the defensive end to stop all their offensive rebounds or is it just a boxing out question?
Don't know if there will be a SGOT discussion, but Greg is the leader in the clobhouse. Can't imagine how bad this first half would have been without him.
-
Depaul is way way better than Georgetown.
Shaka is a lot better than Stubblefield.
-
Lmao at the difference between the locker rooms.
I don’t think the white board in the visitors locker room even has all the screws tightened the way it was shaking while he was writing
-
Drink when you hear the word "guys"

Drink when you hear BLUE
or
Switch
8-)
-
Depaul is way way better than Georgetown.
Shaka is a lot better than Stubblefield.
I like stubblefields message. He’s preaching the right things for a team that will be overmatched most nights until he starts bringing in better recruits, if he can pull that off.
The rebounding disparity shows. If he manages to actually get his team to battle and get stops MU could be in trouble
-
Alright….
Let’s Go Marquette!
-
Make your damn lay ups Justin.
-
#4 is not bad
-
Great pass to Omax by Justin.
-
I don't like our defense ar all.
-
Good 5-minute stretch
-
Nice 4 minutes by DM
-
Stubblefield claps and puts his hands on his hips like he's a grandma. Very cringey to watch this whole game
-
Man I thought that Greg 3 was cash.
Excellent passing.
-
That was strategy in the MU huddle
-
Time to push this out to 16-20.
-
4 "guys" and 2 "blues" in 7 seconds. I'm going to throw up
-
Man I thought that Greg 3 was cash.
Excellent passing.
Felt like a potential dagger. Will need another one.
-
I WILL WRITE THE WORD TOUGHNESS ON THE WHITEBOARD!! AND POINT TO IT!!!!
-
I really hope DePaul doesn’t have anyone relaying what Shaka just said about DePaul
-
Shakas right.
DePauls D is mostly a mess when they don’t score.
-
DePaul isn’t competing for titles anytime soon but with the transfer portal and this style, they won’t be a joke. They look like a less competent St Johns
-
Oso with the hands
-
2 of Elliot’s 3 passses off drives have been stolen. The other was a dunk but man
-
Microwave!!
-
Whatever happened to snagging a rebound with 2 hands?? Let's go now!!
-
HEAT….CHECK
-
That second pull up 3 was dumb by kam. Just had a easy dunk coming.
Love him getting some buckets though.
-
Lewis is having one of his "out of sorts" games. Especially on defense and rebounding.
-
Oso seems much more effective at a game at this pace than Kur. Also love the change in defensive scheme against F-L
-
Shakas right.
DePauls D is mostly a mess when they don’t score.
What did he say exactly?
I've had it on mute since the 15 min mark of the first half.
-
What did he say exactly?
I've had it on mute since the 15 min mark of the first half.
“The math is simple. When they don’t score, they don’t defend.”
-
What did he say exactly?
I've had it on mute since the 15 min mark of the first half.
Basically that DePaul doesn’t play D off empty possessions
But their energy is on D is great when they get makes.
It was a way to pound home getting stops.
-
What did he say exactly?
I've had it on mute since the 15 min mark of the first half.
"They don't score, they don't play D. I'll give them some credit, when they score they play solid D. Don't let them." or something to that effect.
-
Couldn't we find any buyers for commercials? And are the announcers getting full pay this game?
-
What did he say exactly?
I've had it on mute since the 15 min mark of the first half.
He said, here’s the math…when they score they have energy on defense. When they don’t score they don’t have energy
-
I like the offense/defense switches with Stevie and Greg
-
Eww, was that skin hanging of the DePaul players palm?
-
Silly foul on DM.
-
WTH was that? Traveling on OMAX?
-
Ref, please don’t let Marquette guard my player so well
-
I like Oso's shot selection
-
No minutes for Joplin?
-
Basically that DePaul doesn’t play D off empty possessions
But their energy is on D is great when they get makes.
It was a way to pound home getting stops.
That seems accurate.
-
This is a very unselfish team. Excellent passing. You could not say that for any MU team in the last several years.
-
We really need to simply grab and value the basketball. Both on the glass and loose balls on the floor.
-
4 "guys" and 2 "blues" in 7 seconds. I'm going to throw up
Like freshman year! lol
-
I know I'm late to the party. I love the mic up. And love the defense. Smart is coaching. Drip drip drip. Elliot. Oh my.
-
Why did the ref not give DePaul the timeout?
-
I worry Lewis is gonna start chucking soon to get his shots in.
-
The passing on this team the last three games has been incredible
-
That no time out call was uhhh weird.
Be smart with the ball on offense and rebound on D. We got this.
-
I rewound it and couldn’t tell what the ref said to him after he called timeout
-
I rewound it and couldn’t tell what the ref said to him after he called timeout
I thought the ref said that a guy on the court had to call it. Is that the case?
-
I thought the ref said that a guy on the court had to call it. Is that the case?
If it's a live ball situation I think so.
-
With five to go
DePaul 19 offensive rebounds, MU 4.
That’s insane.
-
Every time Stubblefield yells “Guys!”, an angel gets its wings.
-
Sure wish Greg was a 3 point shooter
-
Congrats to Greg and Kolek on career highs
-
Not many guys seem to enjoy playing basketball more than Greg Elliott
-
Sure wish Greg was a 3 point shooter
Same. Needs to hit the Al tonight and get some more shots up.
-
What would Jamal look like on this team?
-
For NET purposes, I hope we can keep the foot down and get this up to 20-25. Finish strong.
-
Holy crap, I can’t believe DePaul is going with blue on this possession. Have they played that defense yet?
-
Sure wish Greg was a 3 point shooter
When we played Georgetown there was a poster on their board constantly b*tching about them sending a dud out to guard him. Claimed he "isn't a 3 point threat."
-
This guy can coach. They are unselfish and playing angles. But Smart tells them where to go to score. Still unselfish. Fighting at the rim on defense. and more patient. And it's not all Justin Lewis. I'm encouraged.
-
Stevie Mitchell is played pretty good tonight
-
Stevie's onball D is excellent
-
Stevie is going to be a BE DPOY type. His hands and feet on defense are insane.
-
Hammer dropped.
We must take out the Hall. It's imperative.
-
I don't remember this many dunks from MU ever in my time watching
-
This is a very unselfish team. Excellent passing. You could not say that for any MU team in the last several years.
Yes. They are so much better than we’ve seen.
-
Stevie Mitchell is played pretty good tonight
He’s been really solid the last couple games. Cutting down on the freshman mistakes.
Always plays hard nosed
-
Morsell pretty good bulling his way to the rim. More of that please.
-
And then Mitchell up tight and blowing out his lungs and picks his pocket. And what happens. JL for a dunk. ESPN highlight stuff.
-
What would Jamal look like on this team?
I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take OMax instead. Carton on the other hand I think would have been a monster in this scheme
-
Thinking about he many heads would have exploded if they did one of these with Wojo. Have a feeling it would have sounded pretty similar to Stubblefield.
-
What would Jamal look like on this team?
Man....we would be extremely dangerous. I think he would fit like a glove.
-
I don't remember this many dunks from MU ever in my time watching
Not since Jim Mcilvaine played here.
-
Frosh chucking early shot clock 3's
-
I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take OMax instead. Carton on the other hand I think would have been a monster in this scheme
I'm in the same group. I'd love Carton (though it would be at the expense of Jones and Mitchell's development), but don't miss Jamal.
More and more, I love the team we have this year. Go MU!!
-
I was disappointed when Carton left. He had the talent. However, I believe he would expect too many shots. And the team would be hurt as far as developing the younger players. I didn't believe the theory that Carton and Morsell would keep MU respectable. Why not get away from that old sad story? Being satisfied for the middle of the pack in the BE? NO NO. I'd rather have Kolek. He's not looking to score so he has to set up other guys to score. Get dimes. Build a team. I think this team will compete in every game this season because they play hard. And they have learned how to score on the pick and roll. It's only DePaul so I'll temper my enthusiasm Still, if UM presses to the end of this season, and this team comes back next year after realizing their potential they will compete with the teams at the top of the rankings next year. It's fun to watch, right now, like tonight, but don't get suicidal when they lose, and remember it's going to get better. A whole lot better.
-
UM!?!
-
I think the future for MU hoops is bright and I stated this very early in the season. That said, and I may be nitpicking a bit, we are going to have to find a way to clean the glass and get to loose balls. This will hurt us in close games against the best teams in our league and I don't see any reason why we can't be better in this area. Catch and value the basketball, It's pretty simple. Box out and usurp rebounds with two hands. Increase the tenacity and freaking grab the rock, stop being so reactive. If we can clean this up we will likely have a great opportunity to be right there in every conference game and perhaps find our way into the dance.
-
Stevie Mitchell is played pretty good tonight
I agree. Think it was his best game at MU. Perfect role for him to relieve Kolek, and be high energy on D. He avoided turnovers tonight and was an absolute pest on defense. Encouraging to see.
-
I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take OMax instead. Carton on the other hand I think would have been a monster in this scheme
I like O-Max, but Jamal would have been perfect for this team. His defensive rebounding ability is sorely needed, and his athleticism would flourish on this dunk city team. I also believe Kolek is head and shoulders above DJ as a PG. DJ a better athlete, but that's about it. Kolek's ability to force help, collapse D, keep his dribble alive, and vision and passing are ELITE. He makes playing the game fun for all of his teammates. DJ? I don't think he'd have that effect.
-

So you’re saying he was Derrick Wilson tonight?
*ducks*
-
#4 is not bad
Full disclosure, I though Javon Freeman would end up with a better career than Ayo Dosunmu.
Whoops.
-
So you’re saying he was Derrick Wilson tonight?
*ducks*
Yep. Perfect for a 10-15 minute role. 8-) But Stevie has a lot more upside/talent offensively than Derrick.
-
I like O-Max, but Jamal would have been perfect for this team. His defensive rebounding ability is sorely needed, and his athleticism would flourish on this dunk city team.
I agree with you re rebounding; Jamal has always been excellent on the boards. I think OMax is a better fit, however, for two reasons: first, as we saw for four seasons, Jamal had trouble handling the ball, which is required in this offense, and second, I think OMax is a better defender. Both are athletic freaks, but I don't cringe everytime OMax puts the ball on the floor as I did with Jamal.
I also believe Kolek is head and shoulders above DJ as a PG. DJ a better athlete, but that's about it. DJ is a two guard, not a PG. No doubt Kolek is much better handling the ball and running the offense. DJ was forced into the PG role last year and wasn't particularly comfortable or competent at it. Just another case of faulty roster composition from Wojo.
But, put DJ in the SG position on this team? I think he adds to the parade of dunks. It would come at the expense of Kam's development, however, but if we were just looking at this year I think DJ would have been outstanding (although only if he were willing to put forth the defensive effort Shaka wants).

I agree that it was always a bit of adventure in Jamal's career when he put the ball on the deck, however he's tightened that up and improved. Defensively, I felt Jamal got a bad rap here, generally speaking. In my recollection he was a very good defender, but was charged with A LOT of help defense which can compromise the appearance of on ball. That aside, OMax is a very good defender so can't argue there.
As for DJ, I think based on what you wrote that becomes a function of who would you rather have on this team playing the 2? Darryl or DJ? I'd choose Darryl, despite DJ being electric and explosive.
-

If you can only have one and not the other, I agree with you, DM is my choice. He has two qualities that this team really needs, defensive ability and leadership, and is better in both categories than DJ. I think there is room on the team for both, though.
-

I agree with this analysis.
-
It seems to me that the people who keep saying DJ Carton would be such a good fit on this team, must have only watched highlight reels from last season and didn't watch any of the actual games where DJ excelled for 5-10 minutes a game and was often non-existent for the other 30 plus minutes, especially on defense. This team would not be as good as it currently is with DJ on the team. First of all, as others have said, they would most likely not have gotten a player like Morsell to transfer and there could have been other potential player losses. Also, there is a reason that DJ was so excited about the hiring of Shaka at first and then shortly after Shaka arrived and the expectations became clear, he quickly changed his mind and decided not to return. He knew he would not be a good fit on this team and wisely made the choice to leave. He came here to play for a Wojo type of coach, not a Shaka type of coach.

DJ had the physical tools to excel in this system and once I knew Haynes was coming on board, I was excited about seeing him in it. And I knew Morsell and Haynes were coming before DJ left, so that wasn't ever a concern.
Remember, Haynes is the guy that turned Zavier Simpson into a lockdown guard at Michigan before working with Ant Cowan and Darryl Morsell at Maryland. He has a history of turning promising guards into studs. We're watching that right now with Kolek, and also with Kam and Stevie as they carve out bigger roles.
Maybe DJ was reminded of the one year at Marquette then off to the NBA plan, maybe someone convinced him he was ready, maybe he was afraid of hard work so he decided becoming a professional was easier. But my faith was in his obvious talent and this staff's track record of success with similarly talented guards.

All good points. I think everyone agrees he was talented and perhaps this coaching staff could have brought out more of his potential and instilled in him a better work ethic on both ends of the floor for the entire game. It will be interesting to see how his career progresses and I do hope he does well.
