I’ll be 53 in May. I’ve never once in my life had sour cream, cottage cheese or cream cheese. Zero. Zilch. Nevah!

Why not?

Cottage cheese is nasty.

The lack of the other 2 could explain your surly disposition.

Cottage cheese, fresh strawberries, almonds, and a swirl of honey makes a surprisingly good dessert.

Perhaps this a societal issue that I was unaware of.  I'm not sure where we've gone wrong but this seems egregious.

Did you discover that one night when the only things left in your kitchen were cottage cheese, fresh strawberries, almonds and a swirl of honey?

Mrs. Headband found the recipe though I can't remember where.

Believe me, I was skeptical at first, too.  But we both really liked it.

Let's be honest, kin.

If they had cottage cheese, we still didn't kick them outta the sack at ol' MU.

Woah.  I’m 45 and same, same, same.  I’ll add Mayo too.

Starting to come around on soft cheeses / goat cheese.  Love horseradish.   Gag at smell of yogurt.  Would drink a gallon of milk at dinner if it was socially acceptable.

I'm not a big fan of cottage cheese, but it's fine; I'll eat it.  But no sour cream? No cream cheese? No mayo? Wow.

Does pineapple belong on pizza?

For me it’s a hard no, but people I used to hold in high regard feel otherwise. Life can be so confusing.

It’s not really my thing, but I was actually introduced to it while at MU.  My roommate freshman year loved pepperoni and pineapple from Lucci’s on 27th Street.

cottage cheese is a tough one.  i like it, but if you've seen some of the things we find and have to use the adjective "cottage cheese like" i completely understand why people have trouble with that first spoonful...i like it with chives though

Peanut butter. If I’m really feeling gluttonous I’ll go for Biscof Butter.

I do eat a ton of eggs-specifically egg whites. And for some reason I can only tolerate mayo during Lent when I’ll eat tuna.

As someone who has never had cream cheese I’ve never had cheesecake or a cannoli. Drives my girl nuts. I just tell her I’ve made it this far without them so I’m good.

I’ve also never eaten squash, beets, asparagus or cauliflower. My Irish meat and potatoes cooking mom always indulged super-picky taste in food and it carries over to adulthood.

Real cannoli filling is made with ricotta, not cream cheese.

You’re welcome.

Appreciate the info.

Still, having anything involving cheese as a dessert doesn’t move the culinary needle for me.

Traditionally yes, but many Italian-American bakeries use Marscopone.  I will also add that Marscopone should be used in lieu of cream cheese in most cases, except bagels.
