Speaking of, I highly recommend the brussels sprouts at Cloud Red in Shorewood.

Agreed.  And at Blue Bat too.  Their other food is just ok, but the sprouts are top notch.

Try beets through a juicer.  Add carrots, oranges, etc. to balance out the flavor.

No one likes the pickled beets on a Wisconsin supper club relish tray? I love them!
Have some patience, FFS.

same here bro...and if i don't exercise, i feel extra guilty.  about 5 years ago, i dumped an extra 60, but put about 15 back on.   >:(   weird cuz i cannot imagine eating 3 meals a day
I was one of those freaks who could literally always eat whatever food I wanted in whatever quantity I wanted. I actually had trouble maintaining weight.

My family has a history of thyroid issues so my PCP was always very diligent about testing, etc.

Then about 2 years ago I turned 50 and everything changed in terms of my metabolism. I’ve been pretty good about exercising and try to control my sweet tooth. Currently about 175 and 6’ 2”. Sounds good, right?

Problem is I look like Gargamel from the Smurfs. Matchstick legs and arms and a spare tire I cannot get rid of. I tell people I’m “skinny fat.”

Only thing that has helped with my gut is Bikram Yoga. Yes, I know it’s controversial and yes I know why the studies say. Maybe it’s the placebo effect but it works for me.

thanks for that jables-i remember as a kid my grandma would shake her head at how much we would eat, telling us it's a sin to eat so much

i love 'em but carbs suck

my observations are that people who only lose weight look gaunt and unhealthy.   weights and cardio are a must-better for the skin, the bones, the heart and the mind
don't...don't don't don't don't

I always suspected most Scoopers have a bit of a Gargamel thing going on. Sometimes in both looks and personality

Guilty as charged.

I’ve had more than one ex-girlfriend tell me that I have a face made for radio and my friends refer to me and my current girl as Shrek and Princess Fiona.

Maybe it's because you are 52 and dating a "girl"  ;)

LOL

It really is incredible how your perspective on "young" and "old" changes as you age. My aunt died at 50 when I was 18, and I remember everybody commenting on how young she was. I kept thinking that was almost three times how long I had lived, and it seemed pretty old to me. Now at 57, I look back on 50 as pretty young.

Agree 100%. The older I get the more my criteria for being “young” gets higher and higher.

Whether she's 18 or 51, is it appropriate to refer to the person you're dating as "girl."

I suppose there's maybe an exception for Justin Bieber and former members of boy bands, but I'm guessing that's not in play here.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Vince Lombardi died at the age of 57.

This is amazing to me because he seemed so much older than that, looked older than that, and "came out of retirement" to coach the Redskins.  At 57.

IMO, "lady friend" sounds like an escort.

I was asking along the lines of the solitary term "girl," i.e. not in combination with "friend."  It seems objectifying.

She's my girlfriend is a perfectly acceptable, but replace "girlfriend" with "girl," and I'm not sure.  Although "woman" or "lady" doesn't seem much better.

Then again, "girlfriend" is the direct object in the above sentence, so I suppose it's objectifying either way.

Plus, I’m certain a lot of the Scoopers who travel to Thailand prefer the term “lady boy” (no JayBee)

The incredible 6 OT Big East Tourney UConn vs Syracuse game is on ESPNU.   No words for how amazing that was.  I remember being in a hotel at Disney World watching until the wee hours.
