I have always seen the Brewers one. But the supposed "M" on the Montreal Expos' caps? It really says elb.

I think thats French for “Montreal.”

So how many of y'all are celebrating National Donut Day tomorrow?

If I had my druthers, I'd visit Red's Donuts in Paducah, KY, Harold's in Columbia, MO or The Baker's Wife in Minneapolis. But I am where I am, so I will probably head to the Gingerbread Bakery. Decent, and at least a locally-owned place.

Plans? Favorites?

How are you recognizing the plight of sex workers around the world, today?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Whores%27_Day

This reminds me .. it's 1989 and I live at West Hall dorm on 26th and Wisconsin.  Outside the dorm is what we called "Prosto Corner" as there was usually a lady of the evening working the street.  (Near the Golden Chicken restaurant.)

But there was seasonality to it .. the corner was generally empty in the winter months.  One February day, we're eating Saga and look outside to see a nice young gal on the corner.   It was cold, and this was unusual.

Sure enough, 10 minutes goes by and a dude pulls up, talking, talking, talking, then ZOOOOOOM, 3 cop cars surround him, they take him away, drive off with his car, and the police-decoy gal is back on the corner with the scene reset within 60 seconds.  Boom.

We joked about going to talk to her .. "Nice bust, officer."   Two of my friends did go talk to her, thanking her, etc.  She said "the show will go on for a few hours."   They looked back to the dorm and saw a face in every window.

It was fascinating to watch this show.   No car ever stopped right away, it'd circle.  We started taking bets .. "here comes blue Chevvy again .. will he stop this time?"

They caught 4 more Johns that night.

In retrospect, it was .. icky that we lived in a place that guys were circling our home 24/7 looking for action, even "out of season."

There is icky everywhere.     There was a murder across from Mashuda in front of the floral shop one summer.    The summer before my senior year, a girl who lived on the first floor of the house I lived in my senior year was sexually assaulted by someone who came in through the window on a hot night.    My senior year, I was saying good night outside Mashuda to the girl I was dating.    I heard a commotion and went down to the entrance to the parking ramp and found a couple being mugged.    I yelled and ran up, which was enough to spook them.    I saw a gun as they took off.    I am glad they didn't shoot.
And never forget about Dahmer.   Senior year, I did my laundry 3 blocks from his apartment.   Glad I wasn't a sex worker.    But, IMO, that was part of the Marquette experience that I treasure.    Walking by the homeless on your way to class, reminding you just how lucky you are.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Dahmer didn't murder anyone with a Marquette connection.

Having said that, "I lived down the street from Jeffrey Dahmer" has been a go-to for me when playing "two truths and a lie".

What does her race have to do with anything?  Are Asians known for their superior donut-making?

Dunno about donuts specifically, but there is an outstanding Chinese bakery in Honolulu's Chinatown.

I am quite relaxed.  I just got back from a very nice vacation where I had my food prepared by folks of many different cultural backgrounds, but it would never occur to me to point them out.

Although you noticed and then just did.  If u want to make things racial then feel free to. Me sayin the gal was Asian was neither negative or positive simply an observation.  Seems the PC police and those throwing out racial accusations are usually the worst offenders of them all.  Pretty sad you went there.

Fine. I will drop it, but let me ask you one last question: If the proprietor had been African American, would you have called her a "lil black gal"?

OTOH, if your ethnicity was predisposed to making great donuts, that'd be a bonus.

There should be a whole immigration program to fast track their applications.

Also, if you could shave roast beef really well.
