Last summer glow and I took the same SWA flight from New Orleans to Chicago as Jesse Jackson.  I did not notice which boarding group he was in.  He appeared to be by himself, and spent his time waiting at the gate reading the Washington Post.

Did he pay for his flight?

I was on an elevator once with Chuck Daly.

Running to a flight at O'Hare back in the 90's.....Short term parking.....Get on the elevator to go to Departures.....Doors open......Brian Dennehy is on the elevator....

Got on.....Immediately recognized who he was.....Looked him up an down.....He is short actually....Like 5'8".....Because I looked him up and down......Taking that double take......Notice his "fly" was down going into the middle of O"Hare......

Did not want to seem like a perv.....After all it was just me and him in the elevator......Did not say a word.....Had a good chuckle as I was getting off.....Too funny.....Good luck Brian.....

Stars are just people too.....

I worked for Strong Investments after graduation. In about 03' I got asked to man the Indy office for a couple weeks as they had some turnover. Pretty boring, unlock doors, turn on lights, keep things alive during a transition period while they hired new people. The back of the office housed an investment team.

One day a bunch of folks walk in. And dudes from the back office came out. Turns out Mike Pence needed an office space to use for an interview and his brother Tom let him use his. I recall after shaking his hand looking on the internet to figure out that he was a State Senator.

I went to the Lombardi a couple of times back in the day. Remember the time Gerald Ford bonked a spectator in the head with a wayward shot?

Once caddied for Craig Stadler.  Nice guy.  Was in my teens and looked at it as just a job.

I wish. I would have been rolling on the ground in agony, claiming that my vision was blurry and I had no idea where I was.

Just think - retired at age 14.... ;)

As a student I worked for the Loyola University radio station WLUC.  In November 1978, the Grateful Dead agreed to do a benefit show in the student union in support of a feed-the-homeless campaign.  I helped with the hospitality arrangements in the faculty lounge where I met Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir prior to the show.  After about 10 acoustic numbers, they sped off to the Uptown Theater for a show that evening.  The highlight of my college career.

While in school, we were the host school for a Beta Alpha Psi meeting (I think it was the national convention) in Chicago. Jesse Jackson was one of the speakers there.. I thought it was a bit odd.. Al was also a speaker there... and gets my vote as the better of the two that meeting.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Sarah Bryant sucks at parking.

Or is that poking fun at a random person on a message board?

I tried one when I was in Singapore, where it is considered a delicacy. Took one bite and had an instant gag reflex. Just horrible.

It's turned into sort of an inside joke with my wife. Whenever we eat something that's really bad, one of us says "well, at least it isn't a durian."

That’s an unbelievable show, especially for them to bust out the acoustics in the middle of that scorching hot 3 night run they were on. The Tom Dooley they played is a personal favorite of mine. Reminds me of 1970 Dead when they were more in touch with their folk/bluegrass roots

How were they? Good guys?

I know there are several Southwest Airlines fans on this board. Are recent events going to make anybody here avoid them?

February 27:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/27/us/southwest-flight-fire/index.html

An engine on a Southwest Airlines plane caught fire Monday morning during a flight, forcing the aircraft to return safely to the Salt Lake City airport shortly after takeoff, CNN affiliate KUTV reported.

The flight's pilots, who were en route to Los Angeles, conducted an emergency landing, said Nancy Volmer, a Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman, the station reported.

Passenger Crystal Bangerter was taking her first flight ever when she saw "huge flames just coming right out of the engine."

April 17:

http://www.businessinsider.com/southwest-airlines-engine-failure-terrifying-emergency-landing-2018-4

A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia after one of its engines suffered a major mid-flight failure.

One passenger died as a result of the incident, National Transporation Safety Board chairman Robert Sumwalt said in a press conference.

Today

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/02/us/southwest-flight-957-unplanned-landing/index.html

Southwest Flight 957 from Chicago to Newark, New Jersey, made an emergency landing Wednesday after a window cracked, passengers said.

The flight was diverted to Cleveland, Ohio, after a report of an issue with a window aboard the aircraft, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said. It landed safely at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Cory said.
