Out of curiosity, how do we tie for first when everyone else in league has at least 2 losses courtesy of us?  ;D

My bad, that's a typo -- I originally had us splitting with Nova, but then recognized my own cowardice.

The Providence game in MKE is the best chance to change an L to a W in BEast play and any of the W's not associated with G'town or DePaul at home is a great chance to add an L in BEast play

Like last year, we'll win a few we aren't supposed to (@ WI, Nova at home (we're in their head), but then drop an egg too (@Georgetown). Losing some close games we could've/should've won (Georgia at home, Hall at home) will leave us firmly on the bubble and needing a first round BE win (against the Hall) to squeak into a first-four seed, which we lose to NCAA nemesis  S. Carolina. Wojo completes another "B-" season - doing enough to avoid any hot seat talk, but leaving us hoping that 18-19 will be the breakout year.

Who does Wisconsin even have this year beside that lanky dude from gb preble?  This has got to be one of the weakest Bucky teams we will have faced.

As for our season?  Like a box of chocolates...22-8/12-6. Sweet 16

Glad you asked  ;D

It is one of the weakest Badger team's we've seen in a while. They SHOULD be an NIT team on paper. I think it's just that nagging feeling that Badgers always manage to bounce back and never rebuild. I'm hoping Gard doesn't have the same voodoo that Bo did.

Van Vliet could also rise up.

Pritzl and Alex Ill have been around for a couple of years now -- based on high school years, both look like guys who could go from barely any PT in first two years on campus to solid players.

Brad could push Trice. Kobe & Nate could help.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them become a group with a healthy rotation of solid players... Big Ten is lackluster outside of the top 2, imo, so there's definitely an opportunity for them to have a good (tourney) season...

Hoping they go 0-18 in the B1G though.

Top 2 being MSU and MN? The B1G blows but those two should be good. Purdue should be solid though.

MSU on top. Minnesota not too far behind. Northwestern and Purdue the next tier. Huge question mark after that.

12 BE wins, 3rd place in the BE and a 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament? You must be expecting the BE to be way down.

I have been tracking the Big East preseason pretty carefully the last 4 years. Our conference has gotten out of the gates strong each preseason winning most of the important non conference games. It seems like we head into conference play as one of the top 3 conferences. At some point the conference may be on the wrong end of a few of those close fought OOC games.  So I have a little bit of that figured into my analysis of seed. Once everyone is in conference play it is hard to change the trajectory of the overall conference because of the zero sum nature of it.

I am looking at Villanova and Seton Hall to be the two leaders of the Big East. Then I see MU, Butler, Xavier, Providence and Creighton in the next tier. The Johnnies may be good enough to get in the 6-7 win range this year which hurts that second tier group. Georgetown and DePaul bring up the rear, but they may not be horrible.

I think once we get in tournament we will do well because of our 3 point capability.

Two quick observation of this Tread's Predictions.

  1) Amazing the number of 20 or more wins (Approx. 17 of 21) as compared to Kenpom  16-12 recorded, he didn't include final 2 games in Maui.

   2)  The absence of some of our High Profile/Vocal Posters.

I think/hope we'll be pretty good, but guessing what we'll do on a Tuesday 4 months from now seems like a fool's errand to me. If we sign QG I'll look at this season as the springboard to 2018-19 which should be a really fun ride.
