The women's team dropped their opener in about the roughest way possible. Made two FTs to take a 2 pt lead with 13 seconds left. Played tough defense, forced a tough shot that missed.....the Lobos grabbed the offensive board and put it in.....and got the and one....with a second left on the clock. MU loses by 1.

So my question is, why was this game even this close to begin with?? Shouldn't this team be blowing out opponents like this, at home or on the road??

I watched the game.  One particular player gave MU fits scoring something like 37.  But this was clearly on us as the Lobos hadn't beaten a ranked team since something like 2010.  Seemed to me that our girls had read too many press clipping about how great they are.  Not a very good effort.

Really disappointed that wasn't on TV somewhere. Just online pay per view. Followed the end of regulation on Twitter, came back to see they lost in overtime.

how about those ladies this afternoon?

92-30 over Loyola.  With a lead that at one time point reached 67.  Fueled by a 28-1 edge in the second quarter.

Looks like they got the defense working.  Now about scoring only 92...

And they destroyed the Badgers, 88-65. Natisha Heideman with 26 points.   Looks like we kept the better one in that family.

Now it's the men's turn!

I watch the DePaul games every year but it all just seams pointless when you have UConn and UT combine for 17 of the past 26 titles. You can argue about our men’s team not having a shot at the title every year but at least there’s variation that can still give hope for one of those miracle runs in the tournament.

Note that this is not an indictment of women’s sports just this level of dominance

Umm Gee, kinda like UCLA men's basketball in the 1960s and 1970s.

Would you have gone to a Marquette men's game in that period?

Give Gino and UConn and the late Pat Summit at Tennessee their due. Great Coaches for whom great players want to play.

Maybe the fire Wojo crowd will back the hiring of Coach Kreiger for the men's team?  What do you think?

Jekyll and Hyde team for Kieger this year.

Have only lost to three Top 30 teams on the road. Have ranked Michigan and Norte Dame upcoming, also on the road. Tough schedule early. They lack height and big depth until McCoy is eligible next season, otherwise they will have to outshoot and outrun their opponents.

There's a bit of a difference, though.  The difference between the UConn Women and say, the number 15 women's team, is like the difference in Men's basketball between No. 1 Duke and the number 200 Men's team.  Its not a competitive game.  There are maybe 3-5 teams a year with even a remote chance of beating them.
