[Paint Touches] Preseason Previews
« on: October 02, 2017, 10:49:46 AM »
I cooked up some previews for all of our opponents for the upcoming season. Rather than starting a new thread for each article, I figured I could post them all here as they come out. We're counting up from the fattiest cupcake to the most unbeatable opponent.

To nobody's surprise, the first article is on Chicago State, or future Marquette University South as MUFINY likes to call it  ;D

Next preview is up. Taking a look at the American Eagles. Their outlook isn't pretty, but they are the last of the true dogs on the schedule.

We finally reach our first Big East opponent. In a non-surprising twist, its DePaul

It would be good to beat the Hoyas while they are down. They won’t stay down long.

Next up we have our first Maui opponent. Rather than writing previews for every team in Maui, I picked the three I thought we are most likely to play. Of course that means we will end up playing someone I didn't expect.

Maybe do a fourth preview for the fourth most likely opponent? I have to think VCU, Wichita State, and either Notre Dame or Michigan are your picks (guessing Michigan).

Maybe. Busy writing the top 50 Big East Players piece. If I find time before the season I may write one more.

Forgot to post yesterday's preview of Vermont:

https://painttouches.com/2017/10/18/preseason-preview-vermont/

Spoiler:

Today, we're covering St. John's. They are a popular pick for most improved team in the BEast (and some say in the country) but I'm not buying it yet.

On Sunday we covered our pick for our 3rd round matchup in Maui:

Today we start getting into the meat of our conference schedule. First up is Butler:

It appears Markus is very psyched to play VCU.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Not trying to steal TAMU's thunder. All credit goes to him for all the great work he is doing. MUCH appreciated!! For all those bored like me on a Wednesday night, here is the next opponent, Seton Hall. Let's try to grab the last minute rebounds this time

Providence up next. I have them ahead of Seton Hall for the moment but Emmitt Holt ends up being lost for the season, I may have to rethink that.

Preview for Purdue is ready. Fair warning, I do not like how we match up in this game. If we have an off game, this could turn into another Iowa beatdown.

If this game were in January, I'd have some hope. But it's hard to believe we'll have the experience and cohesion to win this in our second game.

It looks like Emmitt Holt being lost for the season is likely.  He wasn't on campus this fall, and he had stomach surgery this month.
