What's Novak up to these days?  He isn't signed to an NBA team.  Have him fill the role (and the spot on the noon games).

Nah they need to recruit a gaurd

Better be someone in good enough shape for the noon games.

Maybe someone like Tyler Thornton.

The team features not only Travis and Drake but also DJO, Carlino and a mysterious Wojo cousin...

That will be very difficult as they are in A2.

According to the translated article one of the conditions of Travis signing up was that the team got promoted to A1.

Well, last year they got relegated to A2. They can't be promoted until after the 2017-18 season, so unless Travis just plans to practice for a year...

Correct, but I thought I saw in that article that the promoted team didn't have the money or stadium to necessary to participate in A1 and Vanoli would be brought back up.  Something like that.

I tried the Vanoli Cremona basket for dessert at Buca di Beppo last night; it was A1 in my book.

Todd Townsend was not retained by the UWM staff. Rumor is that TT was pissed he was not offered HC job. I thought TT was helping out at the MU youth camp last week. Just an idea. Here's his bio--probably overqualified considering that he was DPP under Crean.

No but my understanding is that they are somewhat "place bound" since his wife is a local attorney (??)

I have limited "scoop" info but I will share what I heard here.  This is heresay as I didn't speak directly to the person, learning only what I know from my spouse who did - the spouse asked someone in the department whether they thought it was odd Travis was leaving - aside from the response that he can still make good money playing, it was said that diener was only here for wojo and that if the team doesn't make the tourney this year wojo may be out as some people aren't impressed by his accomplishments.  Thus,Travis was covering his arse in that event.

Without going too much into the merits on this, the fact it was mentioned that at least someone with some sort of input on wojos status (whethr its boosters, or actual decisionmakers in the program) might actually consider firing him if we don't make the tourney this year seems ridiculous to me.

1 wojos plan from day one, and ostensibly the reason we hired him, was to build this thing with quality guys and build it to last.  That takes time.  And the results have been largely favorable.  Good staff retention, very high quality recruits both in the class and on the court, good share of local talent, etc, consecutive high level recruiting classes.

2 his vision has been showing results.  Improvement every year.  Could even argue we are ahead of schedule given Henry's early departure.

3 his contract was extended before even we made the tourney last year

Does anyone have anything they think might corroborate this?

My guess is this opinion was formed by contact with a very limited number of boosters, the type that believe it's final four or nothing pretty much all the time and can't get over wiscos recent successs in that regard and that it really doesn't encapsulate the opinion of anyone with the authority to fire.
