Accidentally entered a chili cook off for work. Any of you have good recipes? I made one of the real chili recipes before for a cook off but won’t have that time or space this time around.

Good chili that doesn't take time is an oxymoron.

If you are that rushed, just dump a bunch of this into a Crockpot:

Let us know how you do.   ;D

This is my basic "holy Crap I need to make chili and only have an hour before people show up" chili.

It's not amazing. But it's good and no one has disliked it. It's more of a Goulash style and it's not super thick either.

1 can Great Northern White Beans
2lbs. of chicken/pheasant/grouse/chuckar/quail/dove/etc.
2 12-16 oz. jar of salsa (I use 1 hot and 1 medium, but can use anything)
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 can corn
1 large onion
1 jalapeño
2 small cans of green chilies
2 8oz. cans of chicken broth (you can do one can and one can of water)
2 packets of McCormick's White chicken Chili mix

Accidentally?

My team needed a volunteer and all I said was I had previously won a cook off but didn’t want to do it. Then nobody else volunteered and I was nominated

Ouch!  When I'm in a group and they are looking for a volunteer for something I don't want to do, I suddenly lose the capacity for speech.

LIsten everyone. We've got a real problem here.

Driving up at 5am this morning to go hunting, my GF decided to go along... when I look over at her and I almost cried. She was EATING a RED DELICIOUS apple! A RED DELICIOUS!

I asked her why she would ever and her answer was "an apples an apple... it tastes fine to me!"

To no surprise we saw the fewest amount of ducks I've seen all season... this is somehow her fault.

I use Granny Smiths in pies and applesauce - they are just tart enough and soften up great when cooked.

fjm - clearly you need to introduce your gf to the Wide World of Apples.  Or end the relationship.

Too bad she’s not a Pink Lady kinda gal.

You should post some pics and we can help you decide if she’s a keeper or not.

Ouch.  Give her a Honeycrisp, then make her eat another Red Delicious.  That should take care of it....

Piñatas.  A blend of Golden Delicious, Cox’s Orange Pippen and the Dutchess of Oldenburg.  The best apple pies usually use blends of three flavors or a combination of three separate apples. The rule of threes hold.

Agreed...although I had never heard of the Orange Pippen or Duchess of Oldenburg.

My wife usually uses two or three from among Haralsons, Jonathans or Jonagolds, Cortlands, Granny Smiths or a few others I'm forgetting.  Unfortunately, the place she went only had Haralsons from among her favorite baking apples, so she went with just them.  Turned out quite good anyway.

Since the Maria thread was locked for obvious reasons, I will leave this here.

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/2017/09/28/marquette-basketball-legend-butch-lee-ready-help-his-native-puerto-rico/715015001/
Fortunately there was a thread started on this:
http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=54613.msg949382#msg949382
Unfortunately, and to your point about Maria being locked, nobody was going to take a divisive position on Butch Lee so the thread got little attention**

**i acknowledge the hypocrisy of me chiming in on this thread and not chiming in on the original 'Butch Lee helps' thread.
