For those of you who like cool names
« on: May 12, 2017, 07:47:38 AM »
I found this entire website dedicated to it.

http://www.nameoftheyear.com/

Although they don't limit themselves to athletes, their 2017 Name of the Year is an incoming freshman for the Illinois State football team - Kobe Buffalomeat.

Top Ten:

1. Kobe Buffalomeat 229 (6)
2. Sultan McDoom 156 (3)
3. Aphrodite Bodycomb 120 (3)
4. Marmaduke Trebilcock 112 (1)
5. Chardonnay Pantastico 107
6. Fortunate Sithole 97
7. Jeffrosenberg Tan 81 (1)
8. Andy Brandy Casagrande IV 80
9. Quindarious Monday 70
10. Faraj Fartass 61

My personal all-time favorite, Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn, Jr.  Was apparently a finalist in 2015.

Enjoy.
Have some patience, FFS.

I'm sorry, but any list that doesn't put "Sultan McDoom" at No. 1 is questionable.  I suspect it might have damaged the coolmeter.

Not to wander from the topic regarding athletes names, but when I was in havasu city, our propane gas company was owned by a family named passmore, bob passmore was his real name and the family had been in the gas business for 2 generations.  He even sold shirts and hats that were "guy" funny I guess

Agreed. The only explanation I can think of is that a lot of people didn't know what a sultan is while buffalo meat is pretty straightforward and Kobe is well known thanks to Mr. Bryant.

One of my high school English teachers told me this story: When he was a kid, his family drove past a mailbox with the name "Outhouse" on it. By chance, his parents actually met the Outhouses at a future party. They were told the name is pronounced "oot hoos."

There was a family from my hometown town named Knauf. The K was not silent. It was pronounced cuh-noff. There were brothers: Jack Knauf and Dick Knauf.

About 12 years old is when most boys started snickering.

The most unfortunate name that I know was someone I went to high school with. His name was Richard Inman.

This thread really makes you wonder what the parents were thinking at the time.

I swear the parents that gave their kids these names need to be arrested for child abuse.

PM me for a tragi-comic name story that I cannot put in an open forum, but is truly epic.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I bought my first car from a salesman named Dick Hertzman.

I also represented a seller who sold some apartments on the near north side of Chicago to two brothers named Nimrod.

The Western Hockey League bantam draft was, as always, a treasure trove:

    Sequoia Swan
    Krz Plummer
    Anson McMaster
    Ethan Ironside
    Joel Sexsmith
    Aiden Bangs
    Payton Mount
    James Bohn
    Robbie Fromm-Delorme
    Wyatt Marlow
    Kalen Szeto
    Ozzy Wiesblatt.
    Kalen Ukrainetz
    Dallon Melin
    Aiden De La Gorgendiere
    Talyn Boyko

Also, two Bradens, a Braeden, a Braedy, a Braydan, two Braydens and a Braydon. Also: two Kadens, a Kadyn, a Kaeden, a Kaiden, two Kalens, a Kannon and a Kyler.

My cousin married a guy whose last name is Bunyan.  At work he is called Vince, which is his middle name.  Everyone in the family calls him by his first name, which is - you guessed it -Paul.
Have some patience, FFS.
