Jimmy stats:
Junior year: 14.7 ppg 6.4 rpg
Senior year: 15.7 ppg 6.1 rpg

Yep, not even close. LOL. You must be thinking of Jimmy's sophomore year, which was the season before the midget year.

I was. That's my bad. Still maintain lazar carried that team.

No doubt Lazar was huge. Defending the 5 and rebounding at a high rate, go to scorer, senior leader. But don't minimize Jimmy and DJO. They had very good years as well.  At the time, it was Lazar and a bunch of unknowns so it felt like he carried the team.

Now that we can look back on the careers of Jimmy and DJO, we should recognize they were huge components that season as well.  They were underappreciated at the time but both had great seasons.

They were both huge, but that was absolutely Lazar's team. DJO could get hot but was really streaky. The kind of guy who could score 20 in the first and completely disappear in the second.

Jimmy was coming into his own, but at that point Lazar was better in every way. Offensively and defensively. I do think Jimmy learned a ton from Zar that year, and it served him well not just as a senior (when his defense became elite) but as a pro.

Long run, Jimmy became the better player, but in 2009-10, Lazar was our best player and I don't even think it was particularly close.

I agree with most of this. Lazar lead that team. But I wouldn't say he carried the team. Hopefully this doesn't evolve into a semantics debate.

I would say Lazar was the best player but Jimmy was not far behind.

What I remember from that year is that Lazar had huge plays and was always the focal point. Meanwhile butler was more of a silent solid player.  There was one game that was relatively close that year and at the end of the game I looked up and butler put up 20 points. Completely silently.

Is Dwight Burke playing this year?

Yes, and this is still my all-time favorite highlight of his.

I just looked at the roster.  We're gonna need some size (that big dude from Bradley killed us last year).  Other than Gardner, the only other forwards are Blackledge and Anderson, who don't inspire much confidence.  A three-guard lineup of Buycks, McNeal, and DJO is deadly, but without some forward/center presence, especially defensively, they won't be able to win it.

Sounds familiar...
I really enjoyed watching Buycks play last summer.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Warriors play in Peoria on July 15th. Anybody in? I am contemplating taking my crew down to watch, I imagine this could be very fun. I think Burke is playing/lacing them up, no 7 footers but between Big Smoove, Trend and Burke I think our bigs at least hold their own. Warrior guards will be deadly.
