That game from Wade was the best performance I ever saw in a tourney game. This might be the first time I've watched this since that day.

Under 2:00, when Diener passes to Novak for 3 and is celebrating before the three before Novak even has the shot up, one of my favorite moments ever. Just brilliant.

That and when he gets a steal in the backcourt, drops a pass off to (I think) Jackson, and then grabs the ball after it goes through the net and slams it down onto the baseline.

I was a year old when that game happened so i dont remember it. But my dad always tells me about it and dwade, novak, and diener. I decided to watch it today and I realised that Robert Jackson was a huge role, and he was a monster in the post.

RJax went for 24 points and 15 boards. He was awesome. By far, his best performance that season. He owned Marquis Estill. The game prior, Estill had destroyed Wisconsin. Otherwise, it would have been a MU vs. UW match-up to go to New Orleans.

Because of Wade's triple-double, Jackson's game maybe MU's most underappreciated performance of all-time.

If you ask me, Jackson was key to us calming ourselves down and not getting overwhelmed early. We were very young and inexperienced. Jackson was not only in his 5th year, he was a massive dude and had played Kentucky often in his previous life. He had a couple baskets early and really let the rest of the guys realize we could play with Kentucky. DWade took over from there...and Novak.

So true. Having not watched it since then, I forgot how great he was, especially in the first half. Wade's triple double, especially his second half scoring, stands out vividly, but Jackson was quietly dominant that game.

And the degree of smack that Marquis Estil talked pre-game was just fuel for the fire. I think someone asked him about having played Robert Jackson in the past and he said "who? Don't remember him." Or something like that.

So. So. Sweet.

I remember the serious looks on the players' faces leaving the team hotel.  All business.  Except Steve Novak, who was just grinning for ear to ear walking out to the bus.  Somebody near me said something like, "Ah, the freshman.  He thinks it's always gonna be like this."

You're right. Jackson was asked about this during the post game and I think his response was something to the effect of "I think he remembers me now."
