Let them troll.    It reveals more about them than it does about the team.  Everybody knew this was not a championship team.    Everyone could see the flaws.     They have been discussed more rationally and objectively.   Sometimes more, sometimes less.    To only appear when things are going wrong and never have anything positive to say?     Character revealed.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Let them troll.    It reveals more about them than it does about the team. .. Character revealed.

Admittedly, this is my perspective as a moderator for 10 years.

There will never be a troll-free BB forum.   And you wouldn't want that anyhow, everyone sitting around a circle agreeing with eachother.

When people write incendiary things and get strong responses, I'm more inclined to lock (versus delete) the thread, as if to leave it as a monument to their character.

Now, no doubt, when someone is constantly running their mouth off making the place an unhappy zone, that's when you bounce them from the bar for a while.

Is there a way to lock a user from posting in a particular thread without locking  out the rest of us who want to have a "civil" discourse?

I would expect better from you. Please do not put words in my mouth. I have not said MU's desire to be clean is keeping them from being great. Plenty of other factors, but nothing to do with being clean or not. Time to ban myself.

Goose.  Apologies if I misinterpreted.  I guess I don't understand what you meant when you posted the bit quoted below.

In my heart and in my head, I do not think brass has a plan to be elite for much of four decades. They have the hope and dream and not the plan. Honestly, maybe MU brass is too good of a group of people to pull the trigger to be elite. If the case, I accept that and spend the ball money on making it better academic environment.

I would suggest everyone find the ignore function on Scoop. The forum needs to be self regulating, can't expect moderators to be the thought police. I generally don't put folks on ignore but it can give you a nice break from MDDG, Myfair, etc.. onward Warriors....

If you IGNORE these trolls and don't engage them, they will go away..  As long as you "feed" them, they will return... 8-)

But it's a valid point. It does seem like the powers that be would prefer a clean program over a consistently successful program. Ironically, the rough around the edges mindset that made MU nationally relevant is now frowned upon by the suits.

I don't see how running a clean program and being successful are mutually exclusive. How "dirty" are Izzo, Self, Wright, Few, Mack, Brey, K and Bennett, to name a few?

No one can accuse you of not trying.

My comment, of course, has nothing to do with you ignoring WC.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Exactly, no one can accuse Mr. Sand-knit of not going for the ban.

To be fair to Sand what got my 10 yr old that warning was him smugly saying "Who are you rooting for dad? i'm rooting for Notre Dame".  Sand has a ways to go before hitting that level.

Rocky, I jumped to the same conclusion. Further down in that thread Goose explains himself a little more. It's not that their too ethically good to pull the trigger, its that they are too good to recognize their own shortcomings and bring in some more basketball people.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Ah.  OK.  I generally read everything here (skim depending on how busy it is/how much time I have) and that one just jumped out to me.   So Goose, if you're still reading, again apologize for misinterpretation of your words.
