Nicely written, and I agree. The best defense is a good offense, in our case.

I think to convince me to completely kill our various zones I would like to see what we give up Points Per Possession  on the zones versus our man in the half-court.  I have a funny feeling that our defense is better with the zone versus man.

Don't get me wrong,  I am certainly not suggesting we go to it even 50% let alone the entire game but it is a nice changeup that helps the defense.  To only point to our offense is only half of the story.

I don't have the stats you're looking for. Jay Bee might with his fancy Synergy membership.

The way I see it, there are variables and constants. Marquette's defense is a constant. It sucks, no matter the scheme. Marquette's offense is a variable. I think Wojo should do whatever he can to maximize the offense.

What I can't.believe is that 1-3-1 Wojo employs can't get many turnovers. That is half the point of the thing. That could give our offense a lift with some transition and increased tempo.

To your point the D is just awful no matter what we try.

Our zone defense has produced better results than our man this season... that was also true at St. John's
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.
