Bucks Stiff Vander
« on: September 26, 2016, 03:39:30 PM »
The Bucks announced they added Jabari Brown from the LA Defenders to their training camp roster.  No knock on Brown, but I think  the Bucks are missing a big PR opportunity to bring in Vander for that role. It is not like he can't provide the same skills.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Vander signed with a team in China.

You are VASTLY overestimating the amount of attention that would be brought to the Bucks by signing Vander, especially when you consider the fact that most basketball fans in the state don't like Marquette and particularly don't like Vander.

Even if he was beloved in the city, it would be better "PR" to bring in a fringe-level two-guard who's not Vander and have to face no criticism when they cut him in a month.

What are the Bucks? Signed the local media covering the Packers.

That is fantastic news about Vander, gives him great options. Where did you see that announced?

If he's older than 18, he's too old for the Bucks.

lol. Yeah not sure how the Bucks 'signing' Vander to play some meaningless preseason games (including one at the kohl center) before cutting him in a few weeks because they already have the max guaranteed roster spots taken is a major pr blunder.

The Bucks already have 15 guaranteed contracts so singing Vander or anyone else makes sense why? BTW saw Steve Novak taking his kid to school the other day on his scooter, pretty fun a 6'10 inch guy and this little kid together.  Guessing not many NBA millionaires do that.

Please tell me you'll use the same headline when the Bucks decide not to sign Ohio State's Oklahoma's DePaul's Austin Grandstaff.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

If the Bucks put their D League team in Racine, and the brought in Vander (or any other MU guys) I'd probably go 4-5 times a season, rather than the 1 game I'd go to just to check it out otherwise.

by that you mean stupid sh!t who added one extra year of earning to his career, and likely left MU playing as well as he ever was going to play?

i'm always amazed more guys that are going overseas don't leave early...if you're going to make a relatively average salary playing overseas it becomes all the more important to get as many years of playing in as possible.  hell, i pushed through college in 3 years because the opportunity cost and enjoyment of starting a career outweighed one more year of fun in college.

The better question is: Would Buzz still be here if Vander had stayed?

Interesting question, I think buzz is out the moment we miss the NCAA tournament so we probably would've had one more buzz year if vander had stayed.

Wojo get's a lot of crap for his first year.  Likely Buzz does no better however.  He still didn't have a point guard, and I don't think Ahmed Hill or Satchel Pierce was the answer.  Shayok would have been nice to have however.

OTOH, he may have been able to utilize Deonte better, but who knows.

The way he sat Deonte against Xavier in the BET tells me he would have had the same issues Wojo did.

I agree, that's why I said if vander stays we probably only have one more year of buzz because what was Wojos first year would've been Buzz's complete flop as opposed to 13/14 then he would've left us.
