Chicago Alumni Basketball thing last night

Curious what anyone else who was there thought. I was personally really disappointed with the questions to Wojo. Great hearing Bo Ellis talk though.

It was a huge improvement from prior years.  Wojo actually said some things of substance.

And free booze and food.

Well don't leave us hanging -- what did he say

Well, he said our four new guys are our four best shooters.  He said that over the summer, Joey put on 20 pounds of muscle and grew a half-inch.  That Reinhart and Rowsey still need to learn how to play defense.  He talked about how incredibly smart Markus Howard was - knew he graduated a year early, but I didn't know he also graduated as valedictorian of his class - but that he is still a 17-year-old kid.

He also called out the sweater vests and fans in general for not showing more enthusiasm (in a very polite way, of course), and talked about the home game atmosphere being an important part of the team's success.

Overall, it was much better than the previous two years where he just did the boilerplate talking points about "winning every day" and "I am really excited about the upcoming season".

Have some patience, FFS.

Yep.  My bad.

Also, I got my highly collectible Travis Diener bobblehead signed while I was there.

I went last year but didn't attend this year because of work commitments.  Feel bad that I missed it.

Last year I remember thinking that I was more impressed with Kieger's speaking/promoting than Wojo's, but Wojo's personality is not exactly like a Crean/Buzz - who were experts in creating excitement and enthusiasm into attending games and functions.

She was great as well.  Sounds like we have some great new freshman.  Apparently, we are playing UConn this year.  Unfortunately, it is an away game.

The women's basketball team are going to be very, very good this year.

Chick, what did Travis say about the bobble head?

Not too much.  He seems to be relatively reserved 1 on 1. I was kind of hoping Wojo would have been close by when I approached him so that he could give Travis some sh!t about it.

Travis told a good story up on the dais though.  Homer had asked everyone (Bo, Travis, Jimmy Mac) why they decided to go to Marquette.  Travis said he had just gotten back from an official visit to SLU and told his family he wanted to commit to them.  An hour later, his mom and sisters showed up at his bedroom door crying because they thought SLU was too far away and they would miss him too much.  "So that meant it had to be either Marquette or Wisconsin.  And no way was I going to Wisconsin."   That got some of the biggest applause of the night.

I don't see the game on the 2016-2017 schedule?  Unless it's 2017-2018 season?

If my math is right that puts him at 6"8 220. If he can play defense, then he should get a lot of minutes at the four.

And would be a 3 in next year's offense possibly. Which would make him deadly given his projected shooting abilities. It is hard not to get excited about what is brewing--even if it is a process. Now, go get X WOJO! #RTP

I believe Wojo said 235.  His body fat percentage went from 14% to 9%, so maybe he put on a little fat after the end of the HS season.
