Marcus Jackson is still a beast.  But what happened to DJO?  he used to be automatic behind the arc.  Going to need him in the 2nd half to hit some of those.

Marquette plays Spartan Heroes today. Good article from AE on this:

http://www.anonymouseagle.com/2016/7/17/12208478/basketball-tournament-midwest-region-golden-eagles-alumni-spartan-heroes-marquette-michigan-state

Sparty only ran out 7 guys yesterday. Leon Rodgers was the only real big at 6'8", but they also did have a few 6'6" guys in Delvin Roe, Brandan Kearney, and Alan Arnett. They rebounded as a team well, collecting 42 boards.

The roster also lists Derrick Nix and Raymar Morgan, neither of whom played yesterday. Nix was apparently on the Pistons Summer League team, so he may be available today (unless he's still under his Euro contract). I believe Morgan is still under contract in Europe. If either or both are available, their size will be tough to deal with (especially after watching Rico Hill yesterday).

Could really use Jamil today. Anyone know what Trent Lockett's status is? He's another that could really help defensively against a big lineup.

# of rebounds isn't a good measurement. 34.9% off reb for their opponent; only 29.8% for Spartans.

Totally fair, but we only snagged 21.2% on the offensive glass. Also, for total rebounds, Sparty got 46.7% while we nabbed 32.3%. I expect we'll be outrebounded again today.

Chapman should slow down a bit. Jacking threes early and often. Doubt there's a mercy rule, so may as well start killing some clock.

Busy at work for most of this, but I came in to see Chapman miss three longballs in about a 30 second span, and no hesitation on any of them. Didn't realize at the time he was 4/4 on the rest of his long-range efforts for the day ;)

The best thing that ever happened to Dwight was going overseas. He always had the raw ability to be a really good player, but there was just so much playground in him when he was here. Buzz started to get him playing PG a little as a senior, but that entire year he looked like a scorer being forced to play the point. I don't think Buzz expected to need him there, but Junior just wasn't ready.

But man, Europe tempered his game. Much smarter player, understands his role so much better now, knows when he can take over. Still tries to force it a bit too much at times, and still has some of that playground game in him, but I think that swagger helps make him good when he's at his best. Really glad to see how far he's come.

Honestly, that's my favorite thing about this. You actually get a chance to see those players who in many ways for us, time forgot. Can't wait to see Gardner next week. That'll be fun.

I was always a big Chapman fan.  He was never the star (overshadowed by DWade and Diener, then the Amigos), but he was a steady, dependable guy who always contributed.

Thrilled to see that he's still playing so well.

God I hated Will Sheehey. Hope we beat them by 30 as well.

Yep. Armored Athlete also includes former IU players Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls, and Will Sheehey. Needless to say, Crean sucks.
Doesn't matter we get Davante Gardner back.. I can already here the "automatic" chants.

Looking forward to watching Davante again.

Matchup against Indiana should be interesting. Over/under on Tom Crean references???

Michigan State was down a bunch of their better players and played slow. They were slow on Saturday night against Ohio as well. I was at games on Saturday and the pace and quality of play was much higher. You knew that whoever won that game would beat Michigan State.

If you're on Scoop in July, you're a diehard MU bball nerd.  Period.

The fact that we get to see some of our recent favorites compete once again wearing blue & gold on ESPN 2 this Friday, is nothing short of awesome.  It feels like Christmas in July, and someone just gave me a time machine.

I'll be on campus for the 1996 20 year reunion on July 30th.  If we're playing that night in the Final Four, it will be the definition of Christmas in July.

Is Cody Zeller actually playing on this team or is he just playing the Wes Matthews roll?  Isn't he signed with the Hornets for the next 2 years?

Looks like he is playing the same roll Steve Novak is for us. Booster.

It says he's a booster. For comparison sake, Steve Novak was our team's booster. His role consisted of tweeting out links to a large audience of followers, putting it on his FB page, etc.

I'd be shocked if Zeller was playing.

In the event that anyone listed on the team (whether booster, GM, coach, etc.) is eligible to play by TBT's rules, hypothetically, what's the penalty if a guy like Wes or Zeller (who are under contract) decided to lace them up in a tied championship game with 15 seconds and the ball?  I assume that if they got hurt, the team could probably cancel the contract... but what if they didn't get hurt?  Are they fined?  Suspended?  Paddled?  Or is it strictly the downside of potential injury that keeps the NBA players off the court?

Mike Bibby and Jason Williams are on the same team together, both former NBA players

Watched both of their games this weekend. Williams still has some of the "white chocolate" magic, but he's 40. Throws an outlet pass and watches the offense play from the other end of the court. At one point threw a dime for an and-1 layup and proceeded to tell the K-State Alumni fans to "take all their a$$es home." Bibby can still play but was not all that impressive. The rest of their team is good too, but I think the winner of MU-IU will beat the winner of them and Bradley with relative ease.

Agreed. I wasn't able to go Sunday, but Saturday was one of the most fun games I've been to in a long time. Great to see some favorite players again, the "We Are Marquette" chants were incredible and it was cool to see several of the current players there. Nice to see the current guys support the old guard.

Just saw on the TBT site that the Golden Eagles Alumni fell just 31 votes short of 2000, which would have let them add the Ringer.

The @GoldenEaglesTBT twitter account hinted that it might have been Wes, Travis, or Steve (though if I had a guaranteed NBA contract, I sure wouldn't play in this...).

The good news is that none of the other three Midwest teams in the Super16 hit the 2000 threshold either.

Dammit... they must have got wise to all of those votes from Benny's extended family because there's no way they should have been short by anything.
