Good game for Howard
« on: July 01, 2016, 04:19:24 PM »
While he did not start he led the team in scoring with 16 points and that included three 3's.  Good win today and on to Sunday's championship game.  I know he is going to be a good addition.  The announcer mentioned he is the best shooter on the team.

He did a lot of everything today. Really gritty out there and can slash a lot better than most expect him to given his height.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Turnovers along with eFG% will tell his story.

If he can be solid with his eFG%.. and not outrageous on the TO's, great.

He's amazing. But, a frosh.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Here's a link to the full game video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvuAB-za9yY

Howard checks in a little after the 26 minute mark in the video.

Edit: I see Carte'Are Gordon has Marquette listed as an offer. Could playing with Howard help us nab this PF?

Along with playing well what I like is that he has been the team captain - at least up to this semi game.  I haven't had time to check this game yet.  I don't know if they would switch things up.

If you get to contribute at Findlay Prep you can play ball.

Definitely seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Hopefully Markus can work on C Gordon. Kind of like Noskowiak worked on getting Henry and Haanif.

Obviously a small sample size, but Howard is at 48% shooting 3s in the tournament.

The "3s" are not the same as college 3s, a''ina?

PS - I've got Markus at 48.4% on treys... rest of the team? 27.3%. Opponents? 25.0%.

Excellent shooter.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Pretty much what I thought when I saw that post.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I don't think it's unreasonable for Howard's shooting to arrive Big East ready and his passing to lag somewhere behind

I think his shooting and passing will be ready from the start. I think his defense, handle, and decision making will be the things they need to catch up.

I think he will play off the ball a lot this season. My guess is that wojo will value taking care off the ball over all else from a pg. My assumption would be that with their experience, Carter and Rowsey might be better at that at the start of this season. But you know what they say about assuming!

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

In addition to you tube the game today verse Turkey can be watched on ESNUHD channel 1605 and ESU channel 605 with ATT Uverse.  I am sure other providers have it too.

Howard will have a smooth progression through his freshman year.  He has all the tools, it will just be a matter of adjusting to the pace of play at the high D1 level. Once he adjusts, I think he will have a high ceiling.

Except that this time the good shooting guard sticks around.

It is obvoius that he can shoot the ball, but he did not show me anything else that makes me think he will be playing much this Big East season. We already have a number of three point shooters on our team, so he needs to show he can do something else besides camping out on the three point line.

JB, perhaps some off guard this year and backup to Traci and/or Rowsey at point?  I'd really prefer not to force feed a Frosh and have too many turnovers.  And while it was difficult to tell, I though I saw some matador on ball defense last night.  Comments?
