Wes Matthews Solid Season
« on: May 03, 2016, 12:20:11 PM »
It is worth noting that Wes Matthews came back from a serious injury and made progress this season and did well in the playoffs. It looks like the Mavs coach is expecting some good things from him next year.

Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Give the severity of his injury, he made great progress.  Wesley is a Warrior.

While I understand the severity of the injury, he did start 78 games and played 33 mpg...about the same as he had been previously.

And he had his worst shooting year by true shooting percentage, least efficient year by player efficiency rating, and his lowest VORP (value over replacement player) since his rookie year.

Again, next year is going to be key for him to show that he is bouncing back from the injury so we will see.

Right.  It's just better to exaggerate because he's a Marquette guy.

Back in the day, I ran a couple of marathons while recovering from plantar fasciitis.  I finished both of them - just as I had done without an injury - but it hurt like heck and my performance was affected.

Now take plantar fasciitis and multiply it by a thousand.

Wesley will be fine.

Yeah, but what was your VORP?

I don't think you could ask for a much better representative of the Marquette basketball program. I've truly enjoyed watching his game develop as his career unfolds. Hopefully the best is yet to come.

Yeah, but what was your VORP?

That would be Value Over Running in Place

Yeah, but what was your VORP?

I thought that's what it was called when you go home with a girl in her mid 20s at bar time and wake up to find that she's aged about 30 years.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
