Markus Howard cancelled his Indiana visit

Oh my. Things just got a whole lot more interesting.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Indiana tried convincing Howard to come in 2017.

Central Arkansas has always been the scariest competition for me

Really? Come on. Maybe if his dad were the coach (a la Ray McCallum Jr. at Detroit Mercy), but no way you flush that talent down the drain at Central Arkansas. Howard's #34 in the country--he has NBA aspirations so he needs a high-level coaching staff and all the trappings of a quality facility to help him get there.

EDIT: not to mention high-level competition.

Wouldn't count out ASU. No real intel. Just can't underestimate being close to home/family. See Ellenson, Henry.

Dad is his coach, or brother plays on the team or something.  Oh wait...

Just my opinion

He would get to play with his brother (20 ppg this year) for 2 years & is taking official there in March. Dad said it would be really nice if they played together.

I bet Wojo could come up with a scholarship for his brother, too. He'll never play, but...
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

It would really stink to lose a top 40 recruit to Central Arkansas, regardless of the situation.

His brother is actually really good. The issue is that he's another short combo guard. Markus is great, and I'd love him to come here, but we don't have room for two more players like that.

Findlay guard Markus Howard will no longer be taking an official visit to Indiana. Still has Marquette, Central Arkansas & Baylor planned.

according to sports illutrated, jan. 22, 2016-marcus is planning to announce sometime around april-the potential team list, as you will see has changed, since this was posted,  but 6 fer 6 from the arc?  pay da man alice!!!  i'd like to feel some of that right there!

"After dropping 25 points in a 14-point victory over Athlete Institute on Saturday, Howard connected on all nine of his field goal attempts, including 6-for-6 from three-point range, to score 26 points in a 91–67 decision against St. Benedict’s (N.J.) Prep on Sunday. “Today was just a day I was feeling it,” said Howard, who averaged 20.2 points per game"

Acker and Cubillan disagree.

Acker and Cubillan disagree.

It's not that you can't start two short guards, but then we'd have both Howards, Carter, Rowsey, and Wilson in the 5'11-6'1 range. 5 out of 13 scholarships used on guys under 6'1?

And then you don't have a scholarship for a PF unless you're expecting a transfer out.

Wow, had heard Indiana was the main competition. This it's great news. That leaves the top three at
MU: Advantage in coach relationship
Baylor: Advantage in playing time
ASU: Hometown school

Come on Johnson, reel him in

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Think Stan Johnson is paying off big time with this one. Things could change but I like our odds.

Is Howard still a 2017 or did he re-classify to 2016?

Everything I've heard is that Howard reclassifying is a virtual certainty. Not finalized yet, but I'd say 99% he ends up a 2016.
