Jackson State is projected as the best team in the SWAC per Kenpom at 224, 24 spots ahead of the next best SWAC team (Southern). These are the games I love on the schedule. Relatively easy wins, but top 2 or 3 teams in the bottom 5 conferences.

Grambling, who we play on Wednesday, is the worst team in the SWAC and in the country (351)

So Jackson State lost in double overtime tonight to a decent Louisiana Tech team that is 6-1 and has won 27+ games each of the past three years. I looked at some of the stats and one of them floored me.

Louisiana Tech outscored Jackson State 37-6 from the line. 37-6. Even worse, that's not the first overtime game this season Jackson State has lost while being outscored 37-6 at the line. They lost at Tennessee Tech with the same FT disparity. That's a combined 74-12 free throw scoring deficit in two overtime games.

Looking at them, they are ranked 343 in allowing teams to get to the line and 348 in getting to the line themselves. They have 5 players that average 5+ fouls per 40 minutes and every single rotational player averages 3+ fouls per 40 minutes.

Gotta think if they can get those fouls under control and get their guys better at attacking the rim they could actually be competitive in some of these games. They have lost the total foul battle in eight of nine games, including their game against D2 Fisk.

74-12 in two overtime games. That's freaking crazy.
