Jackson St.

1.  Duane stop shooting 3's.
2.  Haanif, keep shooting them.
3.  Flashes of good defense, but still inconsistent.
4.  Wally always brings it.  Cutting into JJ's minutes.
5.  Cupcakes are yummy.
6.  Rebound better.
7.  The offense is so much better when run through Luke and Henry.

1.  Duane Traci stop shooting 3's.
   1.5 Guards, take smarter shots.
2.  Haanif, keep shooting them, but not at the expense of taking it to the hole
3.  Flashes of good defense, but still inconsistent.
4.  Wally always brings it.  Cutting into JJ's minutes.
5.  Cupcakes are yummy.
6.  Rebound better.
7.  The offense is so much better when run through Luke and Henry.

8. Still figuring out how to break the zone.
9. No Sacar???
10. Good win, keep going!

JJJ will play more than Wally in non-cupcake games.

JJJ left town Friday after practice and got back just before the game due to the death of his grandfather. I'm guessing that was the biggest reason he didn't play much.

As far as the game goes, other than a 5 minute stretch towards the end of it, good ball movement and good effort. Jackson State stinks but we played well.

One of those games where we looked good because the competition was pretty poor.  We looked relaxed, which a good team will not allow us to look like that.  However, these are games we need to play this time of year, and I'm glad we mostly played well, shot it well, etc.  A little sloppy at the end, but hopefully an overall continued confidence builder.

On to the next cupcake, an even cuppier cupcake, but let's take advantage of it and build.

Yeah, MU was up 22 with six to go and pretty poor playing in.

Believe Cheatham had 24, with literally two missed layups in first minute.  Much better at off guard and he makes his free throws.

15 turnovers, so at least down from the 20 per game.  Big difference with Carter at PG and not Cheatham.

Was a bit surprised that he was a DNP-CD.

Offense is significantly better with Traci at the point.

I think any Big East team should run a trap against us until we prove we can beat it. Carter is the only one that I feel comfortable with against pressure.

Hoping Duane gets his shot back. There weren't too many bad looks today from 3, just didn't go in for him.

I really like what I see from Wally. He hasn't done a ton on offense, but I like the way he plays defense and seems like he can make those winning plays that we will need to pull out Big East games.

Pomeroy had this as a 10 point win. There were a lot of good things, but still a lot of things to work on, which I think is good.

Marquette covered the spread. 12.5

I thought Jackson State is coached very well. They have one very nice player in #10.

Henry also had another double-double and five assists.  Only missed one shot that wasn't a three.

Really hope we all appreciate Henry while he's here. 7/11 shooting, 15 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists. And 0 SOTG votes.

Really good player.

I wish Wojo would have taken out Luke for the last few minutes.  Front court depth is limited, so no point in risking an injury to him, and every little bit of game experience will help out Heldt down the road.

His free throw line jumper will be a zone buster. That thing is pure. He's been very good from the line now that he has gotten more arc on his shot.  A double double used to be an auto-SOTG, now it's ho-hum. He's been a lot of fun to watch.

Yup. Henry puts together the most quiet double doubles I've ever seen.

To be fair, the other guy put up 24 pts and was perfect from 3 and the line.

I would vote for HC too. More just highlighting how good Henry has been, and he's made it seem like it's the norm already.

Yes--that is his game--mid range. His 4 of 20 from deep (mostly uncontested) is not what we need. He is consistently drawing the double in the post and is now driving out of it or passing to the open man on the perimeter.

Duane just needs to get right.  We have seen teams that wont shoot in the past. I dont want him passing up wide open threes.  He can make the three.  Its not falling yet, but I hope he gets it right.

Oh, agreed.  I do expect a double double from Henry at this point.

Agreed.  He needs to see some start falling and build back the confidence.

I doubt it. Seems like a team player and hard worker. Just probably not good enough yet.

He was 3 for 9 today, not a terrible percentage. Maybe taking a couple too many since he wasn't 'hot' but I felt like most of them were within the offense. Seems like he's just trying to shoot through his slump (but, again, 33% is not that bad).
