Henry - with a link to an article about top 15 freshman - indicates they will be be doing a weekly ranking on the top 15 freshman -

right now its simmons 1 and Henry 2 - Simmons should be 1 every week really -

Cuonzo and Danny Manning also doing well recruiting wise - both were at least reported to be considerations for MU post -

------It's very early in the season to make generalizations about an entire freshman class. But based on what we've witnessed so far, it looks like the class of 2015 won't have the bevy of impact players we've seen the past few seasons.

And that's OK.

We've been a bit spoiled by the ability of freshmen, like Duke's Jahlil Okafor last season, to simply be inserted into the lineup and produce. It doesn't always happen that way. This class will need more time to develop, but they've shown it sure will be fun to watch.

Every Wednesday, 15 freshmen will be ranked based on the week they had without regards to one-and-done potential or where a player projects in the 2016 NBA draft.

Check back each week, as the order is sure to change and different names emerge:

First Five

1. Ben Simmons, F, LSU Tigers
16.2 points per game, 14.4 rebounds per game, 5.1 assists per game
This list could unintentionally turn into the 'Simmons plus-14' every week with the way he's playing. Did you see what he did against Marquette? Only four other major conference players in the past 20 years have logged a game with at least 20 points, 20 rebounds and five assists. (That short list includes Tim Duncan and Blake Griffin.) Simmons had 21 points, 21 rebounds and seven assists in the loss Monday. He followed that with an "off" game in which he still posted a double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 assists although he scored just four points. Per ESPN Stats & Info, he's the only player listed at 6-foot-10 or taller to post 10 assists and zero turnovers in the past 20 seasons.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Henry Ellenson, F, Marquette Golden Eagles
 15.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg
Ellenson bounced back from his worst game of the season against Iowa. His three points on 1-for-8 shooting in the loss is the only game this season he's been held to less than 10 points. That's long forgotten after his 16 points and 11 rebounds -- despite being saddled by foul trouble -- helped beat Simmons and LSU. Ellenson's late free throws tied the game in regulation against Arizona State. He finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the overtime win.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Derryck Thornton, G, Duke Blue Devils
 9.8 ppg, 3.0 apg
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski likes for his players to operate in position-less bliss on the court, but that philosophy ended abruptly after the Kentucky loss. Thornton, the only true point guard on the Blue Devils' roster, had to be thrown into the starting lineup and allowed to learn on the job. He responded with his first two games scoring in double figures with 19 points against VCU and 14 points against Georgetown.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Bryant Crawford, G, Wake Forest Demon Deacons
 15.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.2 apg
With the game on the line against No. 13 Indiana, coach Danny Manning didn't design a play for senior Devin Thomas, who had 21 points; or Konstantinos Mitoglou, who had 18 points. Manning put the ball in Crawford's hands and the freshman from Silver Spring, Maryland, made Wake's final two field goals including the game-winner with 3.2 seconds left. Crawford finished with 13 points and four steals against the Hoosiers and had 15 points and five assists in a loss to Vanderbilt.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Marquese Chriss, F, Washington Huskies
 18.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg
Chriss has shown no lingering issues from a fractured right wrist he had entering preseason. He's proven to be the Huskies' most offensively gifted freshman so far this season. Chriss exploded with 29 points and 10 rebounds in the win against Mount Saint Mary's and scored 15 against Penn. He ranks ninth in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage, shooting 61.8 percent. A bigger test awaits Chriss and the Huskies when they take on Gonzaga and its talented frontcourt in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second Five

6. Jaylen Brown, F, California Golden Bears
 16.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.0 apg
Brown posted double-doubles in his past two outings with 16 points and 10 rebounds against East Carolina and 18 points and 11 rebounds against Sam Houston State.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Malik Beasley, G, Florida State Seminoles
 21.0 ppg, 7-for-10 on 3s
Beasley was the first player in program history to score 20 points in his first three games. That included a season-high 25 points in FSU's loss to Hofstra.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Skal Labissiere, C, Kentucky Wildcats
 14.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg
Labissiere played arguably his best all-around game with 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in Kentucky's win against Boston University. He leads UK shooting 61.7 percent from the field.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. Ivan Rabb, F, California Golden Bears
 12.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg

Rabb recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds against East Carolina.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. Thomas Bryant, C, Indiana Hoosiers
 13.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg

Bryant was perfect in his first 15 shot attempts through three games; had 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocks versus Creighton (only eight points, eight rebounds versus Wake Forest).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Five

11. Tyler Davis, C, Texas A&M Aggies
 15.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg
Ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage (80 percent) making 20 of 25 attempts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. Brian Parker, G, Marist Red Foxes
 16.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg
 Scored 30 -- without a 3-point attempt -- on 11 for 14 shooting in Kent State loss.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13. Jeremy Hemsley, G, San Diego State Aztecs
 13.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.2 apg
Had personal-best four 3-pointers and six assists in win against East Carolina.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14. Reggie Reid, G, Florida Gulf Coast Eagles
 5.4 ppg, 7.3 apg
Ranks highest among all freshmen in assists per game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15. Raymond Spalding, F, Louisville Cardinals
 7.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg
Breakout performance with 18 points, 12 rebounds in win against North Florida.

Any list of top freshmen that doesn't include Jamal Murray in the top 15 isn't worth the screen it is read from.

Read the description and explanation for what the list actually is.

Once again, look at the description/explanation of what the list actually is.

I stand by what I said. Murray averaged 14.5 pts, 5.5 rb, 3 assists, and 2 steals last week.

And that is on a loaded Kentucky team where 14.5 points a game means more than 14.5 on just about any other team.
