Yeah the trip deserved the technical, but only after Plumlee trucked him.  Really I never would have thought he would become this good and this much of a badass after seeing him at MU as a sophomore.

You must have had low or realistic expectations of him--which is a good thing. We all know about unrealistic expectations.

The replys only show the trip.  They did not show the angle where Plumlee lowered his shoulder and leveled Butler. (that can only been seen at the beginning when shown live)

I don't understand why this is not a double technical.

They gave Plumlee a "flagrant one," which is pretty much the same thing.

But that does not come with a $2,500 fine.

He can be fined after the league reviews it.

That's only half of what Jimmy would pay his buddies if they tripped Plumlee

If my math is right and Jimmy played every minute of every game this season, he makes roughly $3,800/minute when he's on the court. The fine is less than 1 min of work for Jimmy...  ;D

It is not the money, it's the message.  The league seems to be saying what Butler did was worse than what Plumlee did.

Well it was.  Intentionally tripping a player after the whistle is worse than committing a flagrant one.

So it's ok for a 260 pound man to lower his shoulder into an opponent and risk injuring him.  But it is not ok when that player that was flattened to trip the instigator and prevent him from getting to his spot on the floor.

This is going back to the 1980s/1990s NBA when it looked like WWE wrestling and turned off fans (except for the MJ Bulls).  I thought the league is trying to get away from this physical brawling style because fans found this style boring.

Dude, they called it a flagrant foul.  Don't make it bigger than that.

If you want to argue it further go ahead, but I'm not interested.

I know this won't be popular here but plumlee made a hard play that was a foul. Jimmy made a dirty play. I don't support that

Loved the half court shot though

No, Plumlee committed a flagrant foul.

And believe me I am not saying that JFB shouldn't be punished.  But like the best of civil disobedience, you take the punishment because in the long run it serves a purpose.

No they're both not okay.

not every infraction deserves the harshest penalty.

Is that a real chud reference?  It makes him look like a cannibalistic humanoid underground dweller?  Whoa.

Honestly not familiar with the pro flagrant rules. So it may be a flagrant. But it seemed like it wasn't intentional to me. Just made a really hard basketball play. Jimmys was intentional and a dirty move. He could have really hurt plumee. No pace for that in a game ever. Not civil disobedience, just a dirty play

Eh ... Plumlee intentionally lowered his shoulder and drove it into Jimmy's chest. That's an odd basketball play. Basketball would be a very different game if that was modus operandi for how one gets around a legal pick.
Jimmy's play was no less dirty. Though, to be fair, it really was just a knee-jerk reaction to being bowled over.
Both fouls were called appropriately. Much ado about nothing, really.

I mean, it's not like Jimmy blew off a slap of fives offered by Aaron Brooks or something heinous like that.

you're right...jimmy should have waited for the right opportunity to take a cheap shot back at plumlee.  it would have been much more dangerous and saved him $2,500 as it would have only been a flagrant 1.  i'm far from a tough guy, but if a player is playing dirty you don't walk away...especially with millions of dollars on the line.

that said...jimmy doesn't seem to care for duke.  anyone know if he has a relationship with wojo?

I'll use this analogy.  Matt Kenseth is now one of NASCAR's most popular and respected drivers because he 'policed up' that punk Joey Logano at Martinsville.  Spectacular.  Take out Keselowski next time, too.

You rock Jimmy.  Don't take sh*t from anyone.  Glad nobody's hurt.
