After looking over ESPN's coverage, it's clear Marquette played hard and had a few good moments. But, it just wasn't enough to counter Simmons.

Hopefully, Marquette can build off this gutsy performance and overcome this disappointing 1-3 start as the season progresses.

Well, we are not an ESPN team and an ESPN program. What would you expect?

Well, we are not an ESPN team and an ESPN program. What would you expect?

This feels like the old adage "you play the game on your schedule." The game ESPN had to cover may have been LSU/Marquette, and Simmons may have been a part of the story, but it amazed me how little they talked about Ellenson. Simmons was excellent, but he wasn't the only double-double on the court. I was shocked when I logged on to here after the game to see Henry had a double-double because the only stat they showed when he fouled out was the 16 points.

There was a lot more to the story of this game than Simmons, but when I turned ESPN back on 2 hours later during one of the Maui halftimes, the only thing they talked about was Simmons. Nothing about the Ellenson double-double, nothing about who actually won the game, just how good Simmons was. I'm sure if I watch Sportscenter this morning, I'd see nothing but Ben Simmons highlights and discussion about him going for 20/20. Probably display the score something like this...

LSU 80
Marquette 81

Isn't it a shame that even sports coverage is 'politicized' to support the limited dollars of a fragmented audience?  Maybe life was better when we ALL watched Mash and All in the Family.  I guess we MU types need to exclusively watch Fox Sports from now on.

Guys...who cares?

The guy is really really good and deserves the praise.

MU needs re-earn it's respect. One W doesn't do that, but it'll come.

Plus, the dude is about to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft...a league they widely cover and broadcast. Of course they're going to talk Simmons up. Not a shock to me.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.
