From Zag's article.

"In no way would anyone at this institution condone the alleged activities."

Humm, eh anyone?

I once knew someone who worked in the international department of a baby bell.  The head of the unit made it clear to those working directly under him that paying bribes would be a necessary evil to get international business, but that he wouldn't be the one offering them and there could be no reimbursement.  And, of course, if they didn't get enough international contracts, the department would have to downsize.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

And a special shout out to Ners for inspiring me to use the phrase "hate woody."
I think Willie coined that particular term?

Earliest usage I can find is January 14, 2014, by Willie, directed toward MU82 about his attitude toward non-alum.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Why would Tom Crean whistle blowing a disgusting and illegal recruiting practice be a new low?

Not sure how he could be involved. The woman in charge of the escort service is writing the book

Louisville AD said they first heard about it when a senior athletic department person from IU called Louisville athletic department inquiring about the situation.

Let's see, if the NCAA finds a violation serious enough for a postseason ban, the ACC schools won't be able to take 'Ville transfers, this could be a boom for Big East schools.

And an Indiana booster is publishing the book...written by a prostitute.

Yes, written by a prostitute who happens to name not only Andre McGee but evidently players who were involved.  Truth is a defense to libel.  If Katina Powell (and the publisher) aren't sued up the wazoo for this book, I think the clear implication is that what she says is not only true, but she can prove it.

More from the story in the Indianapolis Business journal.

"Powell paid no upfront costs. IBJ Book Publishing covered the expenses involved in producing the book, including paying investigators and reporters to vet her story, handling layout and design of the book, and printing, company officials said.

Former Indianapolis Star investigative reporter and Pulitzer Prize winner Dick Cady was hired by IBJ Book Publishing to help flesh out the story and co-write the book with Powell.

“We think this story will have national impact and we felt having someone work on it who is a Pulitzer winner gives credibility to the project,” said Patricia Keiffner, publisher of IBJ Book Publishing.

The book contains several photos of Powell and other dancers with McGee and various high school and Louisville players."

The term institutional control keeps popping up in my head.

In Indonesia that line item in the P&L was called, "facilitation."

An Indiana booster paid a prostitute, hired investigators and "fleshed out" the story? Nice!

She's liable to get Camper of the Year!

Heard Louisville has a couple 5 stars in town for a visit this weekend. Think Pitino showed up at their homes in a limo at midnight?

Rick Pitino: “I didn’t say that.”

Pitino is a slime ball. Can't wait for Vitale to come to the defense of his paisan. Meanwhile, Pitino claims he has no idea this was going on! Slick Rick. What a piece of work.

So, a book written by a prostitute is being published by a company called IBJ?

I’m surprised McGee worked under Pitino for such a long time. Most only work under him for 15 seconds.

If he did, you can bet that a late night snack at Porcini's was on the menu. Table service included!

Well then...

The most telling report regarding the entire situation.  While no one accepted the allegations of Louisville's involvement in this scandal, no one denied anything, at all, whatsoever.  These allegations could have huge ramifications on the Louisville basketball program - to the point where Pitino may step down, the program may serve a postseason ban, vacate wins and a vacate an NCAA Championship.

The most f#cked up thing is that this woman did this with her three daughters...

"C'mon girls. Finish up your tater tots and get into the minivan. We have some dancin' and f#ckin to do for Coach Pitino"

At the parties, a number of women—including Powell and three of her daughters—stripped and danced in front of the Louisville recruits and players—as well as performed sex acts with them, said Powell.

Again...so? Is this not a story worth pursuing? Is it not a story that would make IBJ money? Who gives a sh*t if he's an Indiana booster.

I know MU and UL have gone head to head on the hard wood but it seems like Louisville has a lot of experience with getting head.

Yes, but Pitino teams are known for their penchant for committing three second violations.
