Yup. 90-85 to BC Atletas, the team we beat by 17. Of course, it's all irrelevant once the actual games start.

Also, both DSR and their backup PG were out for the game.

Their Casual Hoya blog was celebrating the fact they beat Iceland without DSR by more than we did at full strength.

300 to 1 is looking better every day.  One step at a time, and wait for the 350 other teams to stumble.

G-town lost because of poor guard play.

Any indication that JT III's job is in jeopardy?

And while I think it important not to read too much into these games, I do think one can read a little.  For the most part our guys played disciplined, team basketball.  We also know that they carried themselves like gentlemen overseas from Bill's comments to Thomas.  I'll take that any day.

As to GTown, they'll be just fine.  But I do hope we take them down a peg or two this winter.

Rule # 1 of the Casual Hoya states: "Remember the Jesuit ideals on which you were educated."  Some members of this board would do well to adhere to that rule.

BTW, Rule #2 states: "Never ever say anything positive about Jim Boeheim."   8-)

Hey... I remember the Jesuit ideals on which Georgetown alums were educated every time I post here.

Georgetown Hoyas beat SAM Basket Massagno by 3, 76-73. #MUBB beat the same team by 60 shooting close to 70% from the floor. #BigEast

I'd wonder how we would have done on that trip had Traci and Duane Wilson not played. That's pretty much the situation GT had over there.

You just want to get him for the high school, like Pilarz.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

That's two starters for us.  I thought that Georgetown was down a starter and a sub PG.

We were missing an unproven, but highly ranked, incoming freshman.  It's an easy apples to apples comparison of each teams capabilities.

I wouldn't go that far.  Duane Wilson is by far the best comparison Marquette has to the value of DSR to Georgetown.

i was being facetious.

Any comparison of teams based off a European tour is grasping at straws.  Fun during the Aug doldrums, but grasping.

Yeah, there's no real apples-to-apples. I picked our two primary ballhandlers, which is what GT was missing.

I think it is pretty hard to compare us to other teams. However, I am pretty sure our team in the fourth game was better than our team in the third game, our team in the third game was better than our team in the second game and our team in the second game was better than our team in the first game. That gives me a good feeling about this team's ability to improve.

I also think the competition we faced in our fourth game was better. I know, we decimated SAM Basket, but I think they were the second-best team we faced after Haukar. Loved seeing this team hit its stride and I do think that by the time February and March rolls around, if we're healthy, we could be very, very good.
