Correct.

French is taking his official at SLU this weekend.  He's already announced his final list of schools.  I'm confident that French will finish his process and make his decision in a timely fashion now that the path is clearer.  You may recall his tweet about 'everything happens for a reason' when Minnesota's door seemingly closed.

So you're saying Larry Williams WAS a genius....he saw the opportunity to get French all those years ago and pushed to turn us into SLU.

Man, how'd he see that coming??

I would think with a name like Marquette, we'd be a shoo-in for a French guy.

Okay guys and gals, I think we know that French is target #1 at this point and that MU would gladly sign him as soon as he is prepared to make a commitment.  I think I recall that Nwora has decided to wait until Spring to make a decision.  Do we think there's any other candidate (besides French) that Wojo would sign in the November signing period or do we think this might carry over to Spring? Maybe Stockard?

I think Stockard and French would be the only ones we would have a shot at for the early signing period. Nwora and Epperson are both waiting until spring. I don't think we have any other serious candidates at this point. Provided there is no surprise information that pops up, I fully expect French to be signed by November.

I tend to agree with you TAMU.  I honestly believed French was somewhat disappointed when the Minny opportunity went away after the Harris commitment.  But when one door closes sometimes another opens.

Kind of funny how this all seems to work out.  John decides on MU opening door wider at Minny but then that slams shut.  Xavier decides to head to MSU opening a door for some other fine athlete here at MU.  Gotta be somewhat tough on these kids.  Not that they should complain about a free education and a chance to play high D1 hoops.  I personally think Cain saw his opportunity and wanted to jump on it before it wasn't available anymore.  All's well.  We're putting together another fine class.

I like Nwora the best out of these guys but I think you certainly take French if he is ready to sign. Not sure what our chances would be with Nwora anyway.

And we don't "have" to get him either. It would be nice but not make or break.

Wouldn't be the worst thing to bank the spot.  While it can be argued how much stronger the 18' class is overall, MU's targets are most certainly stronger.

Is Stockard the 400lb 7'? If so, he is as much of a flyer as Kostas.

If 6'8 250 is the same as 7' 400 then yes

Wouldn't it be two years in a row we are banking a Schollie? And if someone is leaving you, which always seems to happen, you are leaving two spots open? I hate the idea of ever banking a scholarship.

I may have the wrong player. However to me a flyer is what you take on a player that is not good now, but might become one someday. Buzz had a few of those. Wojo originally said he would not fill scholarships just to use them.

Maybe if we offered him some fries and French vanilla ice cream during his visit.  You know, make him feel at home....

I'm really warming to the idea of Epperson with the last scholarship. Nothing against French, but with John and Eke already in the fold, and a three that can rebound in Cain, I'm not sure we need another guy who's more 4 than 5.

Watching Epperson highlights (and haven't seen a full game yet) he does a lot of things I like. Will need to certainly add weight, but I like how he blocks shots. Does a good job of knowing when to block with a soft touch so he can corral the ball himself or tap to a teammate, but also knows when to swat the shot hard out of bounds if his team can't get possession. Has a solid midrange game that might allow him and Matt to play at the same time on offense. Seems to understand boxing out and has good fundamentals.

Of course, those are just highlights, and much of it against smaller players. Tough to tell if he'll cut it at this level, but with Heldt in front of him and depth around him, he would be able to acclimate for a couple years before we really needed him to be ready. I'd love to see that last scholarship go to Epperson. He may not be the physical mauler that Tillman is, but he does look like a high-major player.

I mentioned Stockard because in a previous post, someone wrote he is a very athletic 6-8, 245.
Becky has a foreign player named Van Vliet, 6-11 and was 210. Interested to see his skills with
added weight. BREW maybe hit the nail on the head with Epperson. Same size and thin. One player
who is not mentioned is Ike Eke. What's the story on this recruit? Is he a physical 6-9, 215 as listed.

Eke is raw but has some nice upside
