When I posted the 32 conference previews on www.crackedsidewalks.com some temporarily came through with jumbled tables. You can still read them in order there, but I also ordered them alphabetically below so you can scan the paragraph summary and click on the link to go to the correct Cracked Sidewalks summary with the player and team rankings.

Available Players for 2016 - Tyler Harris is coming to Auburn, My Breitbart Sports piece on Derrick Gordon http://www.breitbart.com/sports/2015/04/30/1st-gay-player-tops-value-add-list/ (the first openly gay player) and the other top 2015-16 players that have not chosen a team has a couple of hundred Facebook Shares. Matt Mooney left Air Force due to alleged bullying.

American Athletic http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-american-athletic.html - To some degree, the Big East competition as the football teams that left. While three teams still look very bad, South Florida has one of the top JUCOs and we have Houston slated to make one of the biggest jumps in the country. The American Athletic fell way behind the Big East in the second year after the split, but they look to have 6-8 strong teams depending on how those two go.

American East & NJIT http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-american-east.html - It doesn't look like the American East will invite the nations only independent to join, but we are putting the New Jersey Institute of Technology there after their big upset of Michigan several days after almost upsetting Marquette. The would be right in the mix for the title with Vermont, Albany and Stony Point if in fact Jameel Warney is back for another near All-American level season.

Atlantic Sun http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-athlantic-sun.html - The ASun has pulled some stunning upsets in the tournament the last few years. While they have no players in the top 10% of all players (top 40), North Florida looks like the team that should take the title fairly easily and take a shot at somebody big. We have all five of their players projected to be among the most valuable eight players in the league.

Atlantic 10 http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-atlantic-10.html - Despite Shaka Smart finally being lured out of VCU to take over at Texas, the top half of the A-10 looks ready to battle with the American Athletic and Big East. Davidson had no problem moving up and the top six teams project as NCAA teams, including a Rhode Island team led by Hassan Martin who we believe is ready for a breakout national season.

Atlantic Coast http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-atlantic-coast.html - The ACC has taken over the old Big East argument - clearly the best conference through the top 10 teams so how much do you penalize them for having a few bad teams at the bottom? The bottom four teams should improve over their 11 to 13 wins each last year, but still pull the overall ranking below the balanced Big 12 and the much improved SEC. Look for another year of ACC teams flooding the Top 25 rankings throughout the year.

Big 12 http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-12-ranked-1.html - The Big 12 was the best conference top to bottom last year due to having no weak teams. With Buddy Hield waiting another year for the NBA, Iowa State continuing to load up on JUCO stars, Shaka Smart in Texas and Kansas and Baylor looking elite - well you get it. Even TCU and Texas Tech are pulling in great talent, leaving K-State in danger of falling to last. Right now eight of 10 teams project to easily make the tournament.

Big East http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-east-ranked-5.html - Kris Dunn and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera staying gives the conference two potential All-Americans. Sterling Gibbs departure derails a potential big year for Seton Hall, but the rest of the conference is very strong and can go toe-to-toe with the football Power Conferences.

Big Sky http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-sky-ranked-28.html - Eastern Washington looks dangerous again after beating Tom Crean at Indiana and then being a trendy pick to upset Georgetown in the tournament. The Hoyas did win that game by 10. This year it looks like Montana could be the team returning again after two years after the tournament.

Big South http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-south-ranked.html - John Brown looks to be the class of the league and give High Point a big edge up in the automatic bid.

Big Ten http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-ten-ranked-4.html - It is tough to pick a winner with 10 teams in top 40, but with Diamond Stone teaming up with Melo Trimble in Maryland they have as good a chance as anyone a year after upsetting Wisconsin. Yogi Ferrell staying gives Indiana a chance to go deep a year after a very disappointing first round loss from a team with a lot of talent.

Big West http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-big-west-ranked-14.html - A pretty exciting league this year. The talest player Mamadou Ndiaye (7-foot-6 of UC Irvine) is back after giving Louisville a scare in the tournament and UC Santa Barbara have a great backcourt. However, we have Hawaii as a big threat to beat someone in the tournament as it appears players are finally figuring out it is a nice place to live if you are looking to transfer or pick a college.

Colonial Athletic ASSOCIATION http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-colonial-athletic.html - One place where analytics disagrees with conventional wisdom is in the case of William and Mary's Terry Tarpey, who we measure as one of the most valuable players in the country even though he was not considered the best player on the team by many observers. No great teams this year, but plenty of very good players.

Conference USA http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-conference-usa.html - UAB is the big story - pulling the upset in March Madness and set up to be great this season. However, with the Alabama Board of Trustees getting rid of their football program, the team is fighting to get it back or have trouble figuring out a conference. The Sun Belt even said they would not want a team without football. With Old Dominion having upset VCU last year, CUSA still could have a couple of teams make the tournament if they get hot, but UAB has three of the top five players.

Horizon LEAGUE http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-horizon-league.html - We have Alec Peters projected to play near an All-American level and lead Valpo to the title to be a very tough opponent in March Madness. The League has the fair system of giving home court in the tournament in reward for winning the regular season.

Ivy LEAGUE http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-ivy-league-ranked.html - With Wesley Sanders gone, it looks like Tommy Amaker will have a tough time keeping Harvard elite, and if they do slip Columbia could be a much improved team looking for an upset title.

Metro Atlantic Athletic http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-metro-atlantic.html - Iona looks primed to be dominant and a threat in March, particularly if Marcus Johnson does come.

Mid American http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-mid-american.html - Bobby Hurley loaded Buffalo for this season, almost upsetting West Virginia a year ahead of time. With Hurley heading to Arizona State, the question is if all that talent can hold off very good teams from Central Michigan and Akron and upset somebody in the NCAA.

Mid-Eastern Athletic http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-mid-eastern.html - It does not look like Norfolk State has the talent to pull a tournament upset like they did against Missouri a couple of years ago, but with the top three players in the league they should have enough to hold off other teams in a very balanced conference.

Missouri Valley http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-missouri-valley.html - Wichita State is loaded again, and should be in good shape to win the conference with Seth Tuttle gone from Northern Iowa. The duo of Fred Van Vleet and Ron Baker could well be the top duo in the country and have plenty of confidence after beating Kansas in the tournament.

Mountain West http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-mountain-west.html - San Diego State is still the favorite, but look for the legendary Stew Morrill to make Utah State one of the big surprises of 2016 with a dominant inside do of David Collette and Jalen Moore. The conference will have five very strong teams to be one of the best 10 conferences in the country.

Northeast http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-northeast-ranked.html - Rodney Pryor gives the small conference a top 100 player, and he hopes to team up with Elijah Minnie to take Robert Morris into the tournament.

Ohio Valley http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-ohio-valley.html - Murray State went back on a roll last year and will hope to get back to the tournament a few years after just missing the Sweet 16. They have three solid teams to overcome, but definitely the most intimidating conference game has to be facing the intimidating cheer of "Let's go Peay!" on the trip to Austin Peay.

Pac 12 http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-pac-12-ranked-6.html - The Pac-12 will have at least four very good teams - though I admit I am surprised Arizona projected at 6th despite all the talent they lost. The big question is whether Gary Payton lives up to our All-American projections to copy Utah's Delon Wright in lifting a non-Top 100 Pac-12 team all the way to the tournament in two years.

Patriot LEAGUE http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-patriot-league.html - A balanced conference with the top eight players coming from different teams - but can we be Patriotic and hope that Army finally makes their first NCAA tournament after all these years?

Southeastern http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-southeastern.html - I am sure ACC fans will scoff at the SEC edging them out for second, but this conference is unbelievably loaded. Kentucky's rating assumes they get Thon Maker and Jamal Murray, worth 12.42, because if not they drop to fourth in the conference.

Southern http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-southern-ranked-21.html - The Southern Conference look really solid this year, with a potential three-team race between Wofford, Chattanooga and Mercer who could all scare someone in March if they are hot.

Southland http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-southland-ranked.html - We were one of the few that did NOT pick Stephen F. Austin to beat Utah in March Madness. Apparently many TV commentators do not realize that defense (Utah) is every important as the high scoring offenses in the most exciting conference in the country. It is unheard of for a low-major conference to have four of the top 67 players in the country, but starting with potential All-American Jalan West and SFA's Thomas Walkup, this is the conference to watch.

Southwestern Athletic http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-southwestern.html - Some of the great Historically Black Colleges play in the SWAC, and Southern and Texas Southern seem to have a little edge this season.

Summit LEAGUE http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-summit-league.html - The Summit League has developed one of the greatest tournaments, packing more than 10,000 fans into the semifinals and finals. This year they are going to have something big to cheer about with South Dakota State looking absolutely packed and good enough for an upset. They had a very impressive NOT road win against a Colorado State team many thought would be in the NCAA, and then lost at a Vanderbilt team that may be ranked this year. North Dakota State looked solid against Gonzaga in the NCAA.

Sun Belt http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-sun-belt-ranked-18.html - Georgia State and the Sun Belt will try to build on the huge opening round upset of Baylor on a long jumper by RJ Hunter, who lived up to our preseason All-American billing on that shot. With him gone they will take a step back, but are still every solid and could compete for the title.

West Coast http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-west-coast-ranked.html - Gonzaga seemed to finally have a national contender for the senior season of one of the greatest Value Add players ever in Kevin Pangos, but they ran into Duke. However, with All-American Kyle Wiltjer skipping the NBA draft and still having two of the best big men in the country they have a chance again. Their problem is they will have one of the best front lines in basketball, but virtually every minute played at both guards position was by seniors who have left. If the Zags can get the ball up the court, they can win.

Western Athletic http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2015/04/top-2016-teamsplayers-western-athletic.html - Pascal Siakam from Cameroon projects to be a huge star and could take New Mexico State to a conference title. He wrapped up his freshman season with 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots against Kansas in the tournament. For the season, he was in the top 1% of offensive rebounding and in the top few percent in drawing fouls, blocking shots and shooting percentage.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

  • I prefer a team that's eligible, not paid for
Will Shaqquan Aaron be available to Washington this season?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Just glanced at the Big Ten... you've got some work to do :)

Removing Shaq Cleare (left a year ago) from Maryland will bring them down...

...but so will removing Hollowell from Indiana (left a year ago)...

...don't see Eron Harris of Michigan State (transferred in a year ago) on here, but he'd be near a top 40 guy in Value Add (although I think he's easily a top 40 guy in most projections)...

MSU and Maryland are the top two on paper.

Maybe I'll take some time in the coming weeks to help get your Big Ten data updated... but, the notes above are a start.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Thank you! With 4200 projected in the system it takes people like you eyeballing to constantly be updating. I will make those changes and appreciate more any time.

I didn't notice a couple transfer point guards coming into the BigEast.  Tyler Lewis was a McDonald's player that transferred from NC State to Butler.  I'd think he'd be penciled in as the starter next to Dunham.

Also didn't see a couple Creighton guys;  Mo Watson PG averaged 13pts and 7ast with Boston U, plus I would think James Milliken may be Creighton's leading scorer.

thank you! Keep them coming and i will be doing another round of updates. The transfers that actually sit out a year are tricky in the database - have to stash them a year ahead and pop them back in, so appreciate any and all updates.
