Who couldn't love this guy? Incredible, and by far the best B10 coach. Not even close.

Took it to Pitino in OT.

Better coach than Bo, in my opinion, based on what he's done with this year's team.

Please combine with other Izzo thread.

Was a senior high school senior when he was recruiting Korie Lucious. Had volleyball practice at Pius before a Pius basketball open gym. We were meeting in the field house lobby and out of nowhere enters Tom Izzo. Approached him after our meeting and asked him if I could have a picture with him while he was watching Korie. He had no problem with it. Really nice about it. He is short though! Regrettably I never got the picture from my phone to a computer or anything, so I don't have it anymore.

Oh and I guess he can coach.

The guy is golden. This team is OK but not great. Izzo is one of the greats.

He's an incredibly good coach, especially in March.

That said, he sure doesn't turn out good head coaches.  Crean is probably the best from the Izzo coaching tree.  Look at the others - Gregory at GT, Mike Garland, Stan Heath, there's probably one or two more I'm missing.

The objective facts more than support your opinion. Izzo > Bo 8 days a week

Doesn't he have a losing record to Bo the last several years?  Pretty sure he does.

Do you think Izzo is concerned with his record against a coach? I think he's much more concerned with his March record.

No I don't.

I put it out there because some talking like it's blatantly obvious he's way better than Bo.  I'd take him over Bo too, but an argument could be made for Bo.

An argument can be made for anything.

Izzo is clearly the better coach.

Sort of reaching for digs there. Your caveat is that his best assistant only went to one FF, and is mediocre head coach at Indiana.

There is no argument. It's not close. I don't care about head to head, the tournament is when it matters. Izzo has 9 elite 8s and 7 final fours, 1 chip. End of argument.

I'm not arguing his coaching greatness.  I simply stated something that I felt is less obvious than proclaiming him a great coach; something overlooked.

Izzo has beaten higher seeds in the tournament 14 times in his career. Bo's a very good coach, but he hasn't done beaten ONE yet. Izzo is one of the all-time greats.

Class act.  Gets the most out of his teams.   Although I can't help but recall some sparty poster on the badger board flinging out all kinds of accusations that Buzz was paying off handlers to get Dawson (the really good one) to come to MU and then going totally silent when BD committed to MSU.    Sparty has been my second favorite team about as long as MU has been my favorite.
Izzo doesn't care what happens in November.   Shuffles rotations, figures out who can do what, peaks in March.   Sparty on.

He beat #1 seed Arizona last year.  In 2009 UW was a #12 seed and beat a #5 FSU in the first round.

But that's it.
