Chris Jones Released from Louisville
« on: February 22, 2015, 03:59:16 PM »
Rick Pitino, Hall of Fame coach, said the following when Jones was suspended earlier this week.

"...he could play the next game if he does what the assistant coaches tell him to do. If he doesn't he sits again. And I don't care if he sits the whole season, to tell you the truth. I could care less. Because if he doesn't do the right things and act like a Louisville man, he can move on and try to go to Belgium somewhere."

So Pitino sits players for games and/or kicks them off the team?

Huh.

Mind games.

Doesn't know how to connect with his players.

Handles the kids poorly.

Has a lot to learn.

That inexperienced Louisville coach must not know that you just let the highly rated players play.   You can't sit them for not performing to standards, they were highly rated.

threw the poor kid under the bus.

When people without kids see a parent grab a child sternly by the arm and reprimand them they think "what a terrible parent."

I don't see this as Pitino throwing him under the bus.  I see this as "how bad was Jones to get Pitino to say that about him?"

I can't believe Pitino isn't smart enough to know if a player is talented he has to play no matter what he does in practice.....

Clearly he is a coach that will never win a National Championship........

In many ways Ners and Texas Western are similar, but one big difference is that Ners will defend himself to the end, whereas TW is nowhere to be seen when he is criticized.  Most of this thread is making fun of TW and his absurd opinion of Wojo, but it is unlikely he will respond.  He will just wait for an opportunity in another thread to sneak a comment about what an awful person Wojo is and then move on to another and another.  At least Ners will try to explain his position (although unfortunately over and over again).  TW can't explain a thing and doesn't even try.

I think the problem here is that Pitino only wants scrappy players who remind him of himself from his playing days.

I think people expected Rick to slow down the tempo but much to everyone's surprise he chucked one up way too early in the possession...

Maybe Jones was unhappy with how he was being treated by the coach and was therefore justified to fire up any shot he wanted when he did get on the floor.   Maybe the coach, with an axe to grind and something to prove to the administration, did not take well to this.

Here is the money quote...

"I'm not worried about anything that anybody has to say about me," Jones said after the Miami game. "I came a long way, I'm telling you, from (throwing) garbage cans in gyms to wanting to fight every game to keeping it inside. I know how to manage it by just playing hard."

From a reporter's twitter in Lexington:

Chris Jones quit the team at Christmas...he was allowed back on and then was part of a fight at 4th Street last Saturday
3:22 PM - 22 Feb 2015

As for why Chris Jones was brought back for one Game and then dismissed, my guess is UL folks know fight will soon be made public

No,  not at all.   Gr8one is actually a former player with some killer rebounding stats from the 1950s; a good guy overall but many find him somewhat stubborn.   I am curious as to who knows TW's handle over there?  Ner[d] s and he make this board near-unreadable,  and TW appears to be pushing some agenda the liked of which I'm uncertain.

Gotcha.  Just looked at 1 thread, saw the volume of posts gr8one had, and saw the....pauses like this...but I did think it would be odd for Ners to create pauses where the actually make sense instead...of like...this...

Very, very, very, very unlikely.

Was Ners given another timeout?    Quiet here, suddenly posting on scout again.

I have three young children so i don't have time to use teal.

I'm sure they're wonderful children, but in a few years they'll be answering every question in teal.

May I ask how long our reprieve his sentence is this time?

Aren't 1 and 4 the same thing?

Unlike your other alma mater, MU did not offer nor did he visit. You on the Jay Hawk boards ripping Self too for the visit there?

But..but..but, Chico is only "kidding". He loves Buzz, just likes to "kid" about him. Thinks TC (and probably Self) are douches, but get livid and ultra defensive when anyone "kids" about them. The guy can't help himself.
