Chris Jones Released from Louisville
« on: February 22, 2015, 03:59:16 PM »
Rick Pitino, Hall of Fame coach, said the following when Jones was suspended earlier this week.

"...he could play the next game if he does what the assistant coaches tell him to do. If he doesn't he sits again. And I don't care if he sits the whole season, to tell you the truth. I could care less. Because if he doesn't do the right things and act like a Louisville man, he can move on and try to go to Belgium somewhere."

So Pitino sits players for games and/or kicks them off the team?

Huh.

Mind games.

Doesn't know how to connect with his players.

Handles the kids poorly.

Has a lot to learn.

That inexperienced Louisville coach must not know that you just let the highly rated players play.   You can't sit them for not performing to standards, they were highly rated.

Does this mean we can get him and he will have 1/10 of the season eligibility next year?  A tournament ringer!

threw the poor kid under the bus.

When people without kids see a parent grab a child sternly by the arm and reprimand them they think "what a terrible parent."

When people with kids see a parent grab a child sternly by the arm and reprimand them they think "the kid deserved it."

I don't see this as Pitino throwing him under the bus.  I see this as "how bad was Jones to get Pitino to say that about him?"

I really wanted Buzz to go after Jones when he was coming out of JUCO. I think he was the top-rated JUCO player in the country, certainly the top PG. Something tells me he might have fit our old culture but likely not the new one we're trying to create.

Imagine that. A coach being a coach, and a hall of famer to boot.

I can't believe Pitino isn't smart enough to know if a player is talented he has to play no matter what he does in practice.....

Clearly he is a coach that will never win a National Championship........

In many ways Ners and Texas Western are similar, but one big difference is that Ners will defend himself to the end, whereas TW is nowhere to be seen when he is criticized.  Most of this thread is making fun of TW and his absurd opinion of Wojo, but it is unlikely he will respond.  He will just wait for an opportunity in another thread to sneak a comment about what an awful person Wojo is and then move on to another and another.  At least Ners will try to explain his position (although unfortunately over and over again).  TW can't explain a thing and doesn't even try.

I think the problem here is that Pitino only wants scrappy players who remind him of himself from his playing days.

Didn't think it was possible to dribble down one's leg while wearin' Chuck Taylor's or being caught for 3 seconds in the lane, but guess I was mistaken, ai na?

I think people expected Rick to slow down the tempo but much to everyone's surprise he chucked one up way too early in the possession...
Frankly, a Hall of Famer should deliver better results
