MU lost a great one last Friday with the passing of Bob the Barber. He was kind man and will be greatly missed.

Thanks, Keefe. He was one of the good guys in many ways. He cut my hair for 30+ years and never gave me a good haircut, but did provide insight I will never forget.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing - 4 years and never a great cut, but I always enjoyed the experience.

I still seek out independently owned / old school barber shops, and I know Bob is a big part of the reason why.

RIP Bob.

Damn

Just talking about him a few weeks ago.  The haircut was never great, but the experience was.  Fun guy.  Sad to read that he has passed.

Bob was the one guy in life who I wanted to get a massage from. Always a good time getting a haircut from Bob. RIP

I was an Ardmore Stylist guy myself for a time. Gene and Lea were great, but nobody could match Bob for conversation.

How can you even understand him with that ball gag always in his mouth?

I still STRONGLY favor a barbershop. I want a hot towel and a massage. And I want it inexpensive and by a girl. My barbershop charges $11 (cash; or $11.50 credit). I don't remember what Bob charged 20 years ago, but it seems like it was $10?

Oh.. who was the dude.. Calvin? Shoe shine guy.

The only thing with that hot towel treatment there was they reused the same towels, didn't sanitize them.  That was a turnoff.  At least that's what I was told early on by the basketball staff.  "avoid the hot towel".....maybe they meant the Majerus hot towel.

What was the barbershop on Wells?  I think it was on the same block as the lanche and it disappeared around the same time.  I used to go there.

Calvin was a classic. Not much of a worker but a real ladies man.

That's where I had my hair cut Junior & Senior year.
