That Game
« on: January 24, 2015, 05:43:54 PM »
Felt like a Marquette Big East game. It was close, it wasn't ugly, the crowd was into it, the ref's were well refs, the students were loud and massive. First game this entire year that felt like a Marquette home game in the big east.

Thoughts?

Looked great on the tube. The announcers commented on the energy in the building. Really enjoyed watching this one.

All correct. Felt the same. Building was rocking. Students great. Refs - not so much. Missed a lot of travels, and let Smith do whatever he wanted. But it was an exciting game to watch/be at.

Go Marquette!

It was a fun game to watch. Gtown just has more horses than us.

I said it would be an old time BE brawl and it was. This was the best MU played this season, regrettably came up an inch short. No shame in this one. I expect better days are coming. Luke needs to man up and get tough.

I'm hopping the Seton Hall game will be more of the same. Though something tells me the stigma of Seton Hall might carry over.

Despite the outcome, this was a great game to be at.  Enthusiastic crowd, convenient start time, plenty of drama.  Both teams shot the ball exceptionally well, too.  No shame is coming up an inch short to a pretty good team.  I realize it is a few years away, but a new arena at 16,500 will result in a more-filled facility, a few sell-outs for MU, and an increased energy level.  19,000 seats is just too big of an arena for a non-state school.  Even an excellent draw at 15,000 leaves a lot of empties.

15,713. Great crowd.

I thought the crowd was great for Providence and Creighton games as well in terms of the fan base getting into the game. Can't wait for the new arena that I'm hearing will be basketball style 16,500 seats. Which should have 10,000 lower bowl seats compared to the 8,000 in the Bradley  Center.

Great point about the 10,000 lower bowl seats.  With 3 tiers of seating, for most games, they could shutter the upper deck and still fit 13-14,000.  It will feel a lot more full, and the students will all get decent seats.  I do feel for those students relegated to the upper reaches.
