Big East on a Roll
« on: November 27, 2014, 03:58:21 PM »
Looks like a bumper crop year for the Big "E". Here is how I see it. Tier 1 in top ten, Tier 2 top 30.

Tier1: 'Nov, Georgetown
Tier 2: Xavier, Creighton, Butler
Tier 3: Johnnie's, Fairs, The Hall
Tier 4:  Warriors, DePaul

Tier 1 and 2 go to the big dance with possibly one from Tier 3. Rest of Tier 3 goes to NIT.

Thoughts?

Disagree with tier 2.

Providence forsure and probably St. John's are better than butler and creighton.

Disagree, we win the Big East tournament ala 1997 and spoil it for everyone else.

St. John's great talent but I see too much street ball but could be T2.  Providence, haven't see enough to agree at this point.

You are my kind of guy, optimistic. We need that this year.

I just see far more talent on those two teams

Gtown is impressing me big time

Agree, G'town is beating one hell of a good team. If we can be respectable against these teams we will have accomplished more than I can expect.

Well don't think I'm too optimistic I mean I still expect a terrible season. Just have hopes for the tournament.

The Big East didn't put a team into the second round of the tourney last year and it really wasn't close as Creighton and nova both lost by double digits. The Big East has had a nice start but they are still are not a top end conference.   A nice mid major conference.

Sounds exactly like the Big 10 in football.

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

So what you're saying is that Kentucky and UConn are the only true national contenders this year?
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

The best team in Wisconsin history sure struggled today with a team that's not even the best team in a mid major conference

Your logic is spot on but clearly who you are responding to makes statements based on an irrational bias. Do not fall into the baiting trap. The Big East and Ten are both great basketball conferences. That small catholic schools can compete with huge state schools and a couple of wealthy private schools in just one year demonstrates we are doing something right. I have no anomacity toward Wisconsin. They have a great program that deserves to be number 2 at this point. The Big East also has some great programs and, while it is not Marquette's year, our time will come. I think the NCAA is big enough to have 2, 3 or 4 great conferences. I will let the results support the above comments. Let the games begin. Good luck Wisconsin but remember you are not the only kid on the block. There are some big boys out there and arrogance will not help your cause.

Too bad Butler and Georgetown have to play each other tomorrow. A guaranteed loss, but also a guaranteed win for the conference.
