Who Knows Where Tomball Is?

Of course I know the answer, but not because I happened to see the exit off the Sam Houston Freeway several years ago.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Suburban Houston.  That's why I found this line to be very odd:  “I’m from Tomball [Texas]. I’m not even supposed to be in the NBA, let alone be a star player."  And while he might be the only NBA player from Tomball, I'm sure there are a bunch of them from the nearby area.  DJ Augustin, DeAndre Jordan, Rashard Lewis, etc. are all from similar areas.

It would be like Steve Novak saying "I'm from Brown Deer..." without noting that he likely played against the likes of Carl Landry and Devin Harris who both lived just a few miles away.

Perhaps his "I'm not even supposed to be in the NBA" is more in reference to his early life's circumstances than his hometown.

Sounds like he's taking a piece out of the Bazz "EVERYONE LOOK AT HOW HUMBLE I AM" playbook.

Oh. When I saw the title, I thought this thread was about Crean's unique style of basketball: Take all credit, except when things go bad.

The better question is "what is a tomball?"

Crean never had any. Always thought the schmuck sang like a soprano.

My cousin Kim has lived in Tomball for decades....Her husband does not recommend you date her again...lol

Tomball (pop.10,000) is in far NW Harris County...closer to College Station than to downtown Houston...it still feels like a small town, ...many German Lutherans settled the area.

Of Course, H-town has a long list of NBAers (Clyde Drexler and Phi Slamma Jamma was my favorite):

Maybe TAMU can comment, but I get the impression that calling Tomball a suburb of Houston would be reciprocally analogous to calling Ann Arbor a suburb of Detroit.

I'm guessing it's similar to the fact that Kenosha is in the Chicago metropolitan area.

From Tomball...Assuming clear traffic,  its 45 minutes into downtown Houston and 1 hour 10 minutes to College Station...in rush hour, its about the same drive time to either... we consider it a Houston suburb....as many of us are accustomed to one hour drive times
