And we wonder why the US is lagging in high-speed?

Companies are intentionally trying to hurt the consumer and we put up with it (and not just the telecom industry). What's wrong with all of us here in america?

Politicians get rich with the bribes from companies to affect policies that hurt us all and we just re-elect them. We're a country of fools.

You answered your own question. Outside of politicians being bought, the other problem is the golden rule - those with the gold make the rules.

Did Brandy really say that?  LOL.  We have the fastest speed in the world for our size.  You can't escape the realities that speed is tied to geography and wires.  Sure, there is wireless, but you're still talking about wired networks and that is a function of the size of the territory.  The larger the space, the more expensive and difficult it is to provide the consistent speed.  We also have population, which adds to the problem.

When I hear people say things like its tragic we are behind South Korea in internet speed I can only think this is a person that knows nothing about networks to make such a fool comparison.  It's likely someone that doesn't understand economics and believes the world is a pixie dust affair where fingers are snapped and things get done.  If only the world was so black and white and things like physics and economics weren't involved.

In a very dead serious way, why don't you guys find out why some of these networks are blocked, which the article doesn't truly answer.

Secondly, there is a major push coming for rural America on the broadband side that a certain company has had to guarantee to get approval of taking over a certain other satellite company.  They go hand in hand, but the reason for my first question is key to the overall answer.  Yes, money is a big part of it, but it's also sustainability and doing it right.

You may not like the answer, but it is an important question and answer.  It's similar to people wanting choo choo trains in their states and the "fix" for their infrastructure and why so many people are against them...it's not just the initial cost, but who benefits AND the ongoing cost...there are better ways to do things, but a lot of people don't give a damn about that and they just to slap something on there and pound the chest to say they did it....regardless if the money or approach could have been done much better to benefit far greater number of people.

Why the networks are blocked or why the "big boys" of the industry are trying to block the expansion of google fiber? Or why they get mad that they have to change their prices and policies in areas where there is competition from outside sources?

I'm not disagreeing about some of the variables you talk about. But there's a difference between sustainability, ongoing costs, etc. and corporations pushing legislation to squash competition.
