The thing you will miss most about Brent?
« on: August 12, 2014, 02:19:39 PM »
In the last 5 years, theres no denying Marquette's brand of basketball has radically changed. Through presentations, to recruits, to public relations, to even the teams Marquette has played. So with all this and even more changes coming, what is the one thing you will miss most about the Brent era?

Mine will be the insane amount of exciting and close games ending in Buzzer beaters. Albeit many to most of them being from the fault of Brent's bad coaching, but all those come from behind wins at the last second were insanely exciting basketball anyways. That is what I will miss the most of the Brent era.

Getting to the second weekend of the tournament and wondering how he managed it with the talent on hand.

Sideline antics which were worth the price of admission, going deep into the NCAAA tournament almost every year. And how he turned everyone into great fathers - couldn't resist one dig  ;)

Ah yes, being the worst team to make the ______________ . (fill in the blank)

All-nighters, sweet tea, the Team Williams Logo.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

On the contrary, I'm looking forward to reading a transcript of a post game presser and actually understanding what the hell the head coach is saying.

The quotes.  The wins.  The tournament success.  The kids playing in the NBA.

All the above.  I wish Buzz luck at Virginia Tech.

I now support Wojo 100%.

Until he accepts a job at ___________

I did not enjoy last year, but prior to that his dance at West Virginia tops my list and than his singing at Marquette Madness vs Cadougan. Buzz was crazy in more ways than one.

His dance down the bench after the DJO dunk against Louisville at home.

He did have moments of coach speak - where he said nothing at all - but he did share true emotions - unlike Crean, where everything always felt contrived.

Do you mean with future professional talent that was on the roster?

I'll miss our stash of timeouts that we never used. You can cash those in at the end of a season for wins.

The false modesty that got older and older as he went on and on.

Maybe in Hillbilly land, it plays well. But at Marquette, where excellence is expected, "we're not just humbled to be there," we're frickin knocking the door down and making our presence known.

If I miss the false modesty, it is because it seemed so lame.

Miss seeing some of the hard working players. From a personality perspective I think Wojo is a great improvement. Let's hope he can coach and can draw in the talent.

Glad to see a doubling in Marquette's presence in Aggie territory.

Throwing twelve touchdown passes the day after his father died.

Seriously though... the thing I'll miss most was his extended family's non-confrontational nature (must be a southern thing).  Even when my wife and I were (unknowingly) sitting in their seats during a holiday tournament, they never asked us to move.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

His incredible sartorial flair. Dude knew how to dress.
His dress sense was the male equivalent of an aging thai hooker on Soi Cowboy - tacky and designed only to draw attention.
