My friend it is the school's desire to go in that direction so they can survive. Many school's will have issues in future years unless they can prove the cost of the degrees they offer are worth their rising costs. MU really has little choice but to become more competitive.

Competing with Cal and Northwestern.  He only averages seven points, but have you seen his ACT score?  Recruiting will be much different than it was with Buzz.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yeah, it sure sucks to be loosely linked with an elite school that offers an Ivy League-level education. ::)

Could be an interesting recruiting contest between two ex-Duke assistants and the guy that 'backed out" of our coaching search.

I saw him play at an AAU tournament. He is a physical presence for sure and intriguing because of that. He is very raw however, I think he needs to significantly improve all aspects of his game to be a factor at the high D-1 level. I saw him getting beat by smaller 6-5 ish type quicker guys consistently. If we were to take this kid, I think he would benefit from a red shirt year and with enough training and coaching he might be a factor in the later part of his career.

What AAU team does he play for?

The team I saw him play on was the House of Sports Gauchos, I think it is some kind of B team affliated with the Gauchos that plays out of the House of Sports .

Just passing on a little info on the big guy:

1. He averaged close to 20pts per game last season in HS

2. He does have good grades, in fact he's a nation honor society kid

3. That list of offers from rivals is very old and out dated. Here's a more accurate count: http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jonathan-nwankwo

4. He plays for the House of Sports. They're not affiliated with the NY Gauchos, although there were for 1 year. By the way, the House of sports basketball program and basketball team is ran by former Duke player, Andy Borman.

5. He does struggle against 6'5 centers, as most big men do, but I doubt he'll face too many of them in college.

Hope this helps

Right now I don't think Nwankwo is on our radar. CoWojo is more focused on local kids Diamond Stone and Matt Heldt for that class.

I don't know, but it seems likely that once Matt Heldt was in the fold there wouldn't have been much need for Wojo to continue the recruitment.

Yes, we need to be recruiting based on ACT score first and foremost. After all, they are student.....athletes.
