Why would a former player form Mt Vernon, NY care about the source of information on some 15 year old kid from Wisconsin?
Since I see no teal . . .

FREEPORT WARRIOR---Good source--- Flory family is contemplating moving to Milwaukee. He would like to
go to Germantown if possible. Word from up north.

Why?  He is eligible for a transfer since he is moving.
I think because Wojo wants to keep our reputation up and thus will honor the offer that Buzz made . However, he could very well stipulate that kid has to go to one of those PG schools and play some better competition for a year. Buys some time for both parties without losing face . Right now the kid is not on the trajectory of a high D 1 commit. Not saying that he won't be but an extra year can only help.

Because we aren't going to get the best kids from Illinois every year........
Agreed... I mean isn't the main thing just getting the best player we can? Regardless of where the kid is from?

I feel like the idea of "owning Wisconsin" gets a ton of play
"Half a billion we used to do about every two months...or as my old boss would say, 'you're on the hook for $8 million a day come hell or high water-.    Never missed in 6 years." - Chico apropos of nothing

Where do you get that he doesn't have the trajectory of a high d-1 commit? He's been playing up an age group all summer for PGE and basically leading the u16 team against some good national competition. He played up 2 years this past weekend.

So much can happen between now and his senior year, but it's good to hear. Sounds like he's a very talented kid. I believe he's the top ranked WI player for 2017.

Yeah, but who knows what happens when you take the training wheels off.

Serious question: Why is it critical to keep the best WI kids in-state for MU? How would it be worse if we let them go but picked off the best kids from IL each year?

You want the best players, certainly. I know some of us have blinders on when it comes to this state, but most kids aren't looking at their college options, seeing a Wisconsin school and saying

In summary, it's important to claim the ones that are worthy to be selected so that went a crop of talent comes up as it has recently, we are the ones that they gravitate towards.

Flory transferring from Wisconsin Rapids to Oshkosh North.

What I love is the part of the article that refers to the speculation "of the family relocating had circulated on Marquette online message boards as early as late March..."

When it comes to giving an offer to a kid post 8th grade, that kid needs to be a Lead Pipe Cinch.I am from the old school and a can't miss player at that stage needs to exhibit the following characteristics. First he should be a dominant player on his local high school scene and making his team a force , Second  he must demonstrate an ability to be one of the top 5-10 players at an older division AAU tournament and finally he needs to have extensive scrimmage activity with current college players where he is seen as more than holding his own.  I think Flory falls short on all these metrics right now. That is why I think the PG option where he plays at a fancy prep school against great competition is a possibly outcome.  Lets put it another way, when Flory is a senior he needs to have a highlight film that looks like this young mans:

A case could be made that you're wrong on all three. Flory was a major cog on his HS team as a Frosh (is the highest ranked WI player in 2017), he frequently plays up a year or two in AAU competition, and what got him the offer was holding his own against MU's WESLEY MATTHEWS. Yes, the one that currently starts for the Portland Trail Blazers (see below).

Plus, he's a legacy.

Not that difficult to see the fit here.

So now this board wants to rip on a 9th grader?

Pathetic!

I'm not convinced that Flory is a PG. He is 6"3 as a freshman. I grew about four inches after my freshmen year. He could be a solid wing or forward. Wasn't his pops 6"5ish?

So Magic Johnson was playing out of position all those years?
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Just stop.   Let the kid be a kid.   Start worrying about his height and development in about 2 years.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.
